Computer limited to a daily quota of 2, Why?

One of my computers has been limited to a daily quota of 2. I'm not sure why this has happened. I didn't see any excessive errors for this system and it doesn't download that many WUs (maybe 100 per day). This started on is a 7.0.3 client on W7P SP1 64-bit. I upgraded to 7.0.25 in an effort to fix. No luck. Client log:

Re: Computer limited to a daily quota of 2, Why?

Most likely your computer has been generating errors of some kind so you may need to look into why this happened. An alternative explanation is that you aborted a large number of tasks from this computer.

There have been numerous discussions on this.

Check results status and only 1 error WU showed up and not from this computer. Checked invalid results and only 1 beta unit showed. Checked aborted WUs and none showed. Checked User Aborted WUs and again nothing. Hence, I'm still not sure what happened to this system and why the servers think I should be limited to 2 per day.

You are using Boinc version 7.0.25, maybe the WCG Servers don't recognize that yet, it is the newest of the new.

Re: Computer limited to a daily quota of 2, Why?

Maybe when you switch BOINC versions you need to get more valid results before the quota is lifted (like attaching new machine). Also I have gotten that when it was searching for GPU tasks before, since mine failed one, its quota was brought down for GPU tasks. So ill get a msg. like that sometimes when it searches for SPECIFIC tasks. Not a tech, so I can't so for sure though.

Re: Computer limited to a daily quota of 2, Why?

7.0.25 is the recommended version of BOINC for all main platforms. It would be unusual if 7.0.25 wasn't recognised on World Community Grid.*

Changes to work fetch policy may cause some who have upgraded to this latest release version to experience the cache running dry before new work is downloaded. Minimum work buffer value needs to be set higher than the 0 days recommended for always on connections with previous release versions. The default value is more than 0 days (0.1 days, I think) for a new 7.0.25 installation but those who have upgraded from an earlier release version will carry over their previous 0 days setting.

As Spot mentioned, it is possible that the unproductive work requests with "finished a daily quota of 2 tasks" message you are seeing are asking for ATI GPU work and you previously had some errors on ATI GPU tasks. I know the daily quota should have been reset but BOINC Messages/Event Log entries when tasks for a specific type of work are unavailable have often been cryptic and 7.0.xx versions are no exception although there has been some improvement in other messages.

If you have selected "If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above" for the Work profile you could untick it and see if the "finished a daily quota of 2 tasks" message ceases. If it does stop you will know it relates to some error beta GPU tasks you had in the past and does not concern your CPU projects. Once you know that you can again tick GPU tasks on the Work profile and ignore the message. The GPU task quota should hopefully reset when beta GPU tasks are available again.

If you have an ATI GPU model that has now been excluded as unsuitable it may be that the message is stuck as your GPU model is now ineligible to download new work even when it becomes available again. In that case you should leave "If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above" unticked.

This is assuming you are getting this message but still downloading about 100 tasks a day as stated in your post. If you are actually being limited to 2 tasks per day then I have misundertood and none of the above suggestions apply.

*Those who contribute only to World Community Grid may prefer to use the WCG specific BOINC 6.10.58 version which can be downloaded from the link on the WCG main page.

7.0.25 is the recommended version of BOINC for all main platforms. It would be unusual if 7.0.25 wasn't recognised on World Community Grid.
And yet if you look at the WCG Download page you see that the RECOMMENDED versions are:

Windows (6.10.58) (7, Vista, XP, Me, 2000)
Linux (6.10.58) (x86)
(Apple) Mac (6.10.58) (PowerPC, x86)

If you are going to give advice, then please be sure that you give the correct advice. These fora are filled with hundreds of posts that all relate to people having problems with anything other than these versions.

Those who participate in other projects may need to use other versions, but that doesn't mean that WCG will always work for them.

Most other projects seem to require versions later than 6.10.58 for AMD GPUs. I have run across this while trying to test my 6870. Fortunately PrimeGrid is happy with 6.10.58, so I'm sticking with the WCG recommendation.

Re: Computer limited to a daily quota of 2, Why? [Resolved]

The problem actually started about 8:30PM local time and cleared itself at about 10AM local time this morning. The issue was first noticed using the 7.0.3 version of the client. I have a 2 day cache at the moment so I still had WUs to process until it cleared. This system doesn't meet the requirements for any GPU work so it doesn't get any of those. anyway the problem seems to have taken care of itself:

Thanks for all the suggestions and I have marked the thread resolved.
