I understand your concern but my facts are straight No, kashie, your facts are way off base. BOINC version 7.0.25 is the current recommended/release version of BOINC for all main platforms. Some who upgrade to it from an earlier release version may experience problems with work fetch. The reason why is explained here Nowhere in that link does anyone state that 7.0.25 is the WCG or BOINC recommended version. Nowhere. In fact, the version 7.0.25 is not even mentioned in the thread, so where you get RECOMMENDED from is.......Now, after your post (so you could not have known at the time), we have Sekerob posting I've reported the first blocker for those using proxy that did jump on the first 'public release' of 7.0.25 [since 6.12.34], for which a test fix was posted Which clearly states that he does not suggest that 7.0.25 should be used. I would easily assume that if a CA turns down a version that the Techs will not subsequently verify that version for WCG.Since WCG uses a large volunteer support system for its members, it is really important that correct information be distributed to its 500,000 members. The CAs do not need bogus information being given out that, in this case, will significantly increase the number of members having problems running WCG. Some of the other versions of BOINC run fine. I have a machine running 6.10.34 because I thought I wanted 64bit. Just don't go making up recommendations on your own. THE RECOMMENDED version for BOINC at WCG is the version that you download from the WCG home page. Anyone running another version is on their own. THE RECOMMENDED version for BOINC at WCG is the version that you download from the WCG home page. Anyone running another version is on their own. BOINC could be described as cheerful anarchy or as puzzling confusion. We try not to be too regimented at WCG. Just be aware that BOINC will be coming out with new versions every few weeks while WCG will often let a year go by before recommending a new version of BOINC.Make your own decisions and have fun! You may not like it, I may not like it, Sekerob may not like it, but 7.0.25 is the current recommended BOINC version.
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7: 7.0.25 Recommended version Windows 64-bit XP/Vista/7: 7.0.25 Recommended version Mac OS X Version 10.4.0+: 7.0.25 Recommended version (standard GUI) 7.0.25 Recommended version (Unix command-line version) Linux x86: 7.0.25 Recommended version Linux x64: 7.0.25 Recommended version Older Linux x86 and x64: 6.12.22 Recommended version If you disagree with the decision by the BOINC developers to release it as the recommended version or have other suggestions for improving BOINC the place to voice your concerns is via the BOINC mailing list. Even though it may be fun it won't achieve anything positive attacking me as I have no influence on the BOINC developers. I am aware it is not the audited 6.10.58 version recommended by World Community Grid and mentioned that. |

The explanations provided by Ingleside and KWSN - Shrubbery seem plausible to me so I'm going to let run as is for few days and see what happens. I have re-selected HFCC and just need to get a few WUs to validate.
Thanks again for the suggestions |

You may not like it, I may not like it, Sekerob may not like it, but 7.0.25 is the current recommended BOINC version. . ...recommended by themselves! It has NOT been recommended for use on WCG!!!!!!!! No matter how you try to justify it! |

If you disagree with the decision by the BOINC developers to release it as the recommended version or have other suggestions for improving BOINC the place to voice your concerns is via the BOINC mailing list. This is not about the BOINC development staff; this is about you recommending software that does not work correctly. BOINC has released 11 versions after 6.10.58, over the last 21 months, where maybe 3 have actually partially worked. Even though it may be fun it won't achieve anything positive attacking me as I have no influence on the BOINC developers. What bothers me is that you are pushing advice to upgrade solely because BOINC has recommended it. You ignore that WCG has NOT recommended this version, thereby discarding the expertise at WCG. You are touting incorrect advice to the WCG community with no possible benefit.I am aware it is not the audited 6.10.58 version recommended by World Community Grid and mentioned that. Yet you easily push aside the WCG recommendation. Fine. Just hoping that ALL the WCG members steer clear of the many versions of BOINC that don't work. For WCG, currently there are no known reasons to upgrade past 6.10.58.In Sekerob we trust (for software testing) How about we leave it at this: BOINC has released and recommended version 7.0.25. WCG does NOT, at this time, recommend upgrading since software faults have been found. I think that is clear enough. Suit yourself. Keep us posted on your software testing. |

What bothers me is that you are pushing advice to upgrade solely because BOINC has recommended it. You ignore that WCG has NOT recommended this version, thereby discarding the expertise at WCG. You are touting incorrect advice to the WCG community with no possible benefit. The OP is running v7, and in case you're not aware of it, downgrading from v7 will lose all work on client. Recommending users to toss-out all their current work then you're not sure if the problem has anything to do with BOINC-client at all is in my opinion not a good advance, regardless of WCG still having an older client on their download-page. ![]() "I make so many mistakes.
