Re item 1 in the list of things the test is for.
Do you want us to try shutting down Windows and restarting the PC? |

Where? Here :) Yes, here. Do you mean the validator for Betas only, or all tasks? Only problems with the new SN2S beta that is currently running.

----------------------------------------There is a new Beta test under way that will help fix two things. I wasn't aware of these issues. Can someone elaborate?1. The Windows shutdown errors 2. An image overlap issue with the screen saver graphics What can we do, apart from passively crunching them, to help test your fixes? I'm not keen on shutting down Windows, because I usually have CEP2 WUs running. I don't run screensavers - testing excepted. The graphics on the WUs currently running show a window that is blank (black) apart from a WCG logo at the bottom, with a white bar above it having its left end coloured an insipid greeny-blue, apparently a progress indicator. No animations. Progress on my 2600K/4.2GHz, which currently crunches GFAMs in about 5 to 5.5 hrs: 19% after 100min, projecting 8.8h total run time. (Average of 2 WUs: BETA_SN2S_A37114_0000028_0896_0, BETA_SN2S_A37114_0000028_0919_1) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Rickjb at Mar 21, 2012 4:56:08 AM] |

Also, the validator will be off for 24ish hours. Won't matter much. They'll be lucky to finish in under 24 hours. (on P4 or less) I wonder why they are (judging by current CPU time/fraction done, because boinc is totally confused) about 6 times the length of the recent DSFL betas? |

I received 7 of these new SN2S WU's over 3 Linux only machines and all are finishing/progressing without issues. These do, however, appear to be rather larger WU's than the earlier versions as they are taking 5- 6 hours on my faster machine and looking like up to 12 hours on my slow laptop. All graphics appear fine (although blanked) and no unusual issues re stopping or restarting..
