I'm getting the impression that the GTX400 and GTX500 cards perform roughly on a par with the HD5000 and HD6000 series, but the HD7000 cards are miles ahead (13sec Kernel time).

Which 79xx does he have (if you know)? That is an awesome crunch time.

If I had to guess I would say a HD 7970 however not certain, I don't think you can tell from the details:

Comparison between MSI GTX 460 Hawk @ 780 MHz. and a Sapphire 5830 @ 800Mhz. Same CPU, mobo and memory.
----------------------------------------GTX 460:Total time 287 seconds. Total kernel time: 210.141342. CPU time used = 287.665844 5830: Total time 159 seconds. Total kernel time: 108.564629. CPU time used = 49.545918 According to these numbers the 5830 is considerably faster on my setups. One thing that puzzles me is the way the numbers (Total kernel time+CPU time= total time) on the 5830 add up but they don't on the 460. Is there an explanation for that?

Running at 1125 mhz it must have been a 7970...or an excessively O/C'ed 7950

You have busy wait bug on the 460. GPU tasks use a full CPU core for the duration of task with this bug, so runtime and CPU time match. Used to happen on OpenCL tasks run on dual ATI/AMD cards with earlier Catalyst drivers. |

I'm currently using 190.53 beta.

I'm not familiar with NVIDIA cards, I pointed out to Dataman he had the same issue on one of his NVIDIA cards. It may affect certain models with certain drivers, someone with more NVIDIA crunching experience would probably know more. With ATI/AMD it mainly affected dual cards and was only cured with a recent Catalyst driver. It is much more common with OpenCL applications than with CAL applications.

GPU crunching is still in beta so you don't have to choose specific projects except beta. Also insure you checked the block in your settings here at WCG to use GPU. It under your default (or whatever your using) settings.
