I would like to increase the number of work units downloaded to be processed. Presently my queue is less than 12 hours, after that I've got idle cores. Normally this isn't a problem, unless we have an internet outage. Since we live in a rural area with occasional infrastructure problems, this periodically occurs.
I know I've read that there is a setting which will allow me to increase the number of work units to be processed, but I can't find it. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jim |

Jim,
----------------------------------------What client version [exact as printed in the Help > About box] The only thing you need to do on the web device profile is increase either the "Connect about every..." or the "Additional Buffer / Cache" to 1 day and hit the Update button in the BOINC Manager > Project tab [Advanced view]. Some clients do seem to run dry for unknown reason. Increasing the cache to 1 day or so apparently works to keep the system busy and let the client ask for new tasks autonomously. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 13, 2012 6:52:25 PM] |

Sorry about that... I'm running 6.12.33 under Mac OS X
----------------------------------------Under the preferences network tab there is an entry titled "Additional work buffer". I couldn't find any documentation about what the field does, but suspected that it might be what I'm looking for. I figured I'd ask before changing settings which aren't documented. Edit: I changed the buffer setting and that did the trick. Thanks for the tip to press the update button on the Projects tab. I would have missed that and thought that the change didn't do anything.
