They didn't pop up this morning when I installed so can't retrieve it again. Not sure what's going on with the 32 bit libraries though. Will try and get a screen shot when I try again later. Are these still needed to crunch under 64 bit OS? Am crunching without them now. From what I've seen of recent Ubuntu installs, the repositories are including the 32 bit libs with BOINC. So that shouldn't be a problem for you if you're re-installing. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

Seem to remember I was blond moment miffed because, and I just confirmed, the repository version is... dead march drum rolling... 6.12.33 (x86), so it says in the About box. Really makes no difference as the 32 bit BOINC can 'manage' 64 bit science apps too and it does, so I've confirmed too for C4CW.

Tried again this morning. 1st time got the same issue. Almost gave up. did a google search on the 32 bit libraries. Ive been copying and pasting from web sites so I didnt have to manually input. Not sure why, but used a different web sites info to copy and past, got them installed. Not sure if possible misspell or what. Anyways, all is good. Thanks for all the replies.

On the install help wiki pages for BOINC Linux there's instruction how to install the ia32 libs straight from the repository, also covered in topic 4-AC of the Start Here FAQ index. Beyond me how you loose them, but good you found your way, many roads leading to Rome and some never to get off the right Uscita of the GRA (Grande Raccordo Anulare ) ;>)
Never give up, on Linux either. --//-- |

I used apt-get in terminal as per instructions. Not sure why when I copied and pasted from the wiki site gave me issues vs the one I found from another site works. Could have been operator head space too. At least I got it done. Went back to a mechanical drive from my ssd and it performs the same as the ssd did. Was hoping to see improvements. Kind of disappointed. Granted it's an older OCZ ssd.

Most mechanical drives are slower (MUCH slower) than SSDs, why would you be disappointed yours is running just as well as one?

I upload once per day around the same time. Gets 44 to 45 wu's completed on both per day. It's an OCZ Onyx, which is a couple years old. Both also have about the same difference between CPU time vs actual time.

Personally I would be disappointed in my SSD if my mechanical drive got the same performance as my SSD did. Bear in mind, I don't have an SSD, either. So I settle for what I have.
