Re: Wish List for website and My Grid features.

Tomast, like your idea but instead of check marks, have a digit. 0 for do not crunch, 1 for your priority wu's you want to crunch , 2 if the priority is suspended for what ever reason. Would help out allot for folks concentrating on one particular project. Have ran dry a few times because a project went down and didn't know for a few days.

I am not sure I care about number but I DO like the idea of backup projects when one is hiccuping!

Re: Wish List for website and My Grid features.

I wish there could be a feature on our stats page to tell us how long it will take to reach our next badge at the amount of days returned at latest stats update

Would also be nice to see how much runtime is added to each project we contribute to. Example:

12 hours C4CW
5 days HFCC

Answering the first part first: I just do the math myself, based on how long each WU takes, times how many I can return in a day.

Now the second part: Again, you can do the match each day by just writing down each day how much total time you have put into said project, then writing down what it's at the next day, and subtracting the previous day from the most current day.

Can't get much simpler than that, assuming we all have paper and pens/pencils, or even (obviously) a computer you can create a text file with. :)

If you can do it so easily then the Server can do it even faster and for everyone! We aren't talking rocket science calculations, just numbers based on the last update. It can even be set to do them only when the website is displayed, not for every person every time.

Re: Wish List for website and My Grid features.

Maybe I should have stated my point a bit less muddy. I was inferring that it would be something that doesn't need to be coded, as it's simple for us as users to figure on our own with some simple to do math. Complex things, on the other hand, would be far better suited for being coded and having the programmers spend the time to do such things.

I'm sure the programmers have much more important (to the app and science) things to code than something such as this that we can easily figure in a minute (or even less).

Hope this is a better explanation than I posted previously. :)

Oh I got what you meant, I just think it would be cooler to have it on the webpage for everyone instead of those that keep track of yesterdays numbers every day. I personally only track my total for each project and then only for the projects I am crunching for right now. I know for instance that on most calendar days I was increasing about 25 to 30 work days towards a new projects badge, but not every day. And NO I am NOT suggesting that the programmers stop what they are doing to do this idea, but it would be a nice thing to see pop up one day.

Re: Wish List for website and My Grid features.

It's a great idea for a Wish List, but probably won't have any impact. We haven't had any substantial update to the website for over a year, unless you include the changing of the colour of the bars. Thank goodness the Techs have time to at least add the new projects.

Over a dozen items have already been requested and there is no time being spent on any of them, as best as we can tell.

We are told that the Techs have no time for anything new, other than the sciences. We plead and beg. Crunchers open new threads. No response. Nada. We are the mushrooms kept in the dark and ignored. It's great to hear that you all are enjoying the experience. If you are feeling a sense of frustration, I recommend you reduce eliminate your expectations. Above all else, remember that WCG has never been a democracy, nor should it be.

Not quite the way I've always heard the *mushroom* analogy wink

Re: Wish List for website and My Grid features.

There are ideas, wishes, recommendations, demands, etc...
This is a wish, nothing more nothing less.

I wish that the "number of days remaining" was available in the Statistics By Project section of the My Statistics page.
I know the "number of days remaining" is available in the dashboard image but not everyone knows about it.

Having the "number of days remaining" on the My Statistics page would give everyone convenient info they need to plan their crunching to maximize their badges.
It would especially help volunteer crunchers with modest computers to achieve their goals.

Thank you very much.

No liberties were taken since the traditional and commonly used analogy regarding mushrooms does not apply here.
