hello here alged may i ask about the future of Decrypthon and Decrypthon Team ( fisrt build in France ) when HCMD 1&2 are over?
----------------------------------------Will they participate in other poject as a whole team or be disbanded? I hope that a communication will be done at the next Telethon in France in december and that the original site of Decrypton.fr will be at last revitalized. As a member of that team i think HCMD was "sa raison d'être" as we say in french .... but after?? Any member of Decrypthon following this thread?? I may ask this same question in some others threads of HCMD forum to get an answer. ALGED ![]() |

We corrected that issue this morning. There are 9 workunits left in progress for the project but as you noted, due to the way that we were running the various generations of the workunits, the additional replicas for these remaining workunits are not being sent to 'reliable' devices. We have corrected that and these final workunits should be finished soon.

Still sitting on the same PV result after the repair unit timed out. Admin: Why are repair tasks being sent out with a 10 day deadline? Especially this late in the game that makes zero sense. Ah - some support for my suggestion of many months back. At the end of a project, the deadline should be gradually reduced. Similarly, at the start it should be greatly relaxed because that way, the tortoises will be able to make a contribution and there's plenty of time for repairs if necessary. As it stands, the very slowest machines can actually obstruct processing because if they fail to respond by the deadline, a faster machine is called upon to make up the work. The slowcoach's contribution is discarded. And I'd suggest that the really slow machines are likely to be company print-servers and the like, possibly turned off at weekends or in holiday periods like the upcoming Yuletide and New Year's celebrations. And the proof of this is the hiatus in HCMD2 while France was on holiday. The deadline was ignored and results were still coming in for weeks - even the average run-time increased. Why? Because those jobs were running on slower processors so they were more likely to run the full 6hrs. The faster machines ran out of work days earlier... |

Not yet. There are still a few results out there. Also, we need to scan the results that have come back to make sure we didn't miss anything.
Thanks, -Uplinger |

Snip from a general update about WCG:
----------------------------------------... we have been extensively scrutinizing the full set of work completed for the HCMD2 project so that before we declare the project finish, we can confirm that all batches and workunits have been transferred successfully to their servers and backed up in our repository. Edit: The original from which the snip came was posted on Nov.13. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 14, 2012 5:30:51 PM] |

Bonjour,
----------------------------------------Est-ce que quelqu'un peut me dire où en est le projet HCMD2. Est-il fini ??? Peut-on avoir des nouvelles de ce projet ? Où en sont les chercheurs ? Merci par avance pour la réponse. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by FRED82 at Nov 23, 2012 6:10:54 PM] |

THAT IS THE QUESTION ![]() |
