Still downloading fourth generation for 2541. That batch must have been huge as I was expecting fifth or sixth generation work units by now. Guess we'll see when it finally finishes.

Still downloading fourth generation for 2541. That batch must have been huge as I was expecting fifth or sixth generation work units by now. Guess we'll see when it finally finishes. Given the number of deep generation ones that are being created with truncated final digits and will have to be re-run, I reckon we have a while yet. (I just cleared another 8 of those out of my queues ... and that was only for 3 machines/5 cores!) |

The truncation is likely because an array does not have enough space when there are a million or more positions. If there are less, 6 digits, one more generation fits in, but then there wont be need for more generations... Depended on when the initial child splitting took place... light or hard target. Seen only batch 2541 as reported to have this state of million plus positions.

The 2541 finished in 6:12 hours CPU time, 100% of the positions. The 2518 will finish in 8:15 hours CPU time, 100% of the positions. Can't be too hard if my laptop can finish them without being cut-off. yep it seems like it just truncates 1 or 2 symbols if the previous generation beginning is 7 symbols ........ Maybe there is a filename length limit ?

Looks like the end is really coming now. Not much new work on this project in the last 12 hours.
Looks like we're entering a cleanup phase. About 30 mins ago, server aborts were sent on the WUs with truncated names that were still in my queue. I've just received a couple of normal jobs with 4-day deadlines instead of 10 days. |
