My Win7 laptop was running 6.2.28, so I thought I would upgrade to 6.10.58 as my Win7 desktop is.

Well, your overzealous cleaning software [or operator thereof] will have removed the old msi which was in a coded folder, which is needed to uninstall 6.2.28 before 6.10.58 can be installed. Since it's gone, just rerun the 6.2.28 installer taking the *remove* option. Surely you still have that and if not... here is the link to refetch:
