Can not connect to upload/download

I am not able to connect to send results or get new tasks.
Running 6.10.58
I had a proxy which did not work and removed it
1/7/2012 10:31:34 AM Using HTTP proxy 69.163.96.2:8080
1/7/2012 10:31:34 AM Using SOCKS proxy 69.163.96.2:8080

Where should I be looking to find out why there is no communication?

gah i was going to attach a text file with the message log.. but dont see a way to attach a file..
Thanks
Carl

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

Not seeing WCG in your message log. If you select 1 WCG message log line you can actually hit the "Show only this project" button, then copy the lot from the top in a next post in order for us to assess the messages.

Generally proxies are not a problem to WCG. For some instructions follow this help: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/vi...chString=proxy+OR+proxies

P.S. You cant attach files to posts, but you can include a link to a file hoster such as dropbox.

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

I have sometimes also a problem with upload and download. For whatever reason communication gets deferred systematically. The project update function does not solve the isse. The only way to solve the issue is to exit the boinc tasks and relaunch it. Communication is immediately restored and upload/download is immediately resumed.
Maybe this helps.

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

I am not showing any WCGs in the message logs.. the only projects I have running at the moment are:

Rosetta@home
Seti@home
Milkyway@home
PrimeGrid

None of these are being updated, the error box that will occasionally pop up is:

World Community Grid couldn't do Internet Communication, and no default connection is selected.
Please connect to the Internet, or select a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections.

The below link is my message log text.

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

it is working now.. not sure why... I re-enabled the proxy and then disabled it, and it connected and is transferring files.

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

I was wrong, just got the pop up message again....

World Community Grid couldn't do Internet Communication, and no default connection is selected.
Please connect to the Internet, or select a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections.

some background...

I have just built this computer, my older computer died, and I have built one to replace it, hard drives and all were replaced.
I originally installed Boinc, then realized I was using the WCG and installed that over the Boinc.

Re: Can not connect to upload/download

Your full log at drop box suggests that your client is not currently attached to WCG, probably was. If WCG is listed in the projects tab, then suggest to detach from WCG. After, go to the Connections tab in the Advanced > Options screen and hit the clear default button, then OK and restart client. Try attaching to WCG, then post all messages from the top.

If things still dont work, visit the proxy help link I gave. There are some diagnostics instructions v.v. additional log flags that can be set, so we can see more detailed messages of whats going on.
