- not only big size but an overload of WUs I know you need evidence, but I haven't got time for or because of the pain, so please trust me. I crunch 24/7 on a PC + a laptop. The WUs sent to my PC are all good and well and I can meet the deadlines - but my laptop is assigned WUs for more hours than are in a day. I have to weed the workload regularly and it seems a waste. I just weeded - and my workload seems set to run amok again by November 29 sometime: WU list page 1 WU list page 2 I should know, but don't, so please tell me: The deadlines - are they GMT/UTC? Is it me (it habitually is) or is something wrong apart from me? You [don't] have to weed because the client does that already and most probably it's because you run an over-sized cache. You're always here, you know WCG is always up, so if you don't have to, set the connect + additional buffer so that the sum does not exceed 2.5 days. This 2.5 days helps preventing receiving short deadline repair tasks, so they will always be 7 days minimum (HCC+the Mirage DDDT2 A type) or 10 days... Also WCG has a secret grace period, so if your HCC job takes 7.5 days before returned it will still be And yes, you had that right in your follow up post... moving not possible, but deleting is, long as no one has hit the direct post reply button. ;>) --//-- Edit: Forgot time UTC answer. In your client you see the UTC time converted to your local time, so in Denmark it would show for instance as 13:00 in winter and on the Result Status page as 12:00. With DST in effect yours would then be 14:00. Edit2: Spell did not warn for excepted, when accepted was meant ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by TKH at Nov 29, 2011 3:35:02 PM] |

Thank you for answering regardless, SekeRob
Yes, I live here, but I practically never work on my laptop, but am on my PC for that. I run both "devices" on one profile (BTW - I cannot see an option of calling it anything but "Default", which to me is confusing). "Default" used to have a cache of 2.0 extra days for mobile broadband dongle reasons. Now adjusted to 0.5 days. This, however - as I see it - does not explain my real concern: why I get WUs for more hours than 24 a day on my laptop - while my PC gets what matches its capacity after I have taken what I need - but I may very well be technically challenged |

Click my grid then device manager
You should see the option device profiles You should see options to create new profiles. Then once again click device manager. You should then be able to change the machine profiles. |

I can create a "Custom profile"
- I cannot save it under a different name as I see it. Only as "Default". When I open "Device profiles", I have a "Default" profile which I can check and/or change and save as "Default" because I see no other option. If I could call it something else - say Garfield - it would be easier ... for me - thank you d_from_birmingham Alabama |

[ot]https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewProfiles.do
----------------------------------------You should have Default, Home, Work and School listed. Select a profile (Home), configure it to crunch what you want and then add your system to that profile here, http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewDevices.do Click the device (computer name) and then move it to the profile you just modified (Home)[/ot] Regarding the 0.1% of resumes. The percentage that presently resume is just part of the picture. The size of these files is also important. If the average resuming file is large then it's more important, if they are small then it's less important. Also, what is the percentage of files that can resume compared to files that cannot? If only 1% of files (and think in MB) can resume then 0.1% of all files means that 10% of files would resume if they could. Hopefully you can facilitate the resuming of CEP2 file transfers. More zipping capabilities would be useful in Boinc, but the servers would need to be able to identify which client version they are communicating with and send data in an appropriate format. Good luck, [Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Nov 28, 2011 6:54:58 PM] |
