Re: New Heights...

EVGA has maintained it's two year anniversary. I'm slowing switching computers back to crunching. Nice job guys.

Re: New Heights...

1st, TY Viper for the fast response :)

2nd, just an observation from a post from AB at the EVGA forum. I can't respond there that's why I'm doing it here.

You go AB! Get the team rep to the whatever they call it with PG to push your point. Seriously and no sarcasm intended. EVGA is massively GPU intense and we have never got support from PG there at FAH. It is why I brought everything I have to Boinc.

My view.... Push for ALL GPU support for PG and FAH to come here until PG admits that it is every bit as important as 4P or larger CPU stuff. Massive migration (and we have the start) is the only language PG will understand.

Just my OP. But thanks AB for posting this there.

Re: New Heights...

What I find amusing in all of this is PG's reluctance to support GPU's. When, NVIDIA has essentially declared their intent is to kill the CPU and try to move all computing power to GPU based systems.

Wonder how that's going to affect things later on down the line for PG.

You know something is wrong with the system when the top 20 folders at H produce double the total points of the remaining 640 members of their team combined.

Yeah... Good point... I just hate what my perception of all this is right now. My heart literally hurts from the perception I have of F@H right now. And I am a cup half full fella. It is hard to get me to the other side...

There is to much potential productivity being lost...

Re: New Heights...

Folks, team mates lend me your ear.

PG is PG... we all know this. The research is more influenza based than anything else. I understand the concept that a pandemic outbreak of (insert disease or influenza here) is more important to them than say, one or one thousand cancer patients. The greater good and all. What we all agree on I believe is that PG is not interested in thinking outside the box. Or for that matter listening to those that donate their time and money.

I also see PG as more interested in continuing funding by using the product we assist in creating and sending that to various drug manufacturers for their piece of the pie.

WCG does give us far more freedom. Yup we are the #2 folding team now... but we can be the #1 WCG team. With I think far more interesting projects related directly to the various interests we hold dear (cancer, alzheimers, water, primes, Optimus Primes etc.)

It was great helping out the folding team where I got started in all this. However, as I posted in our forum. I think it would be justice served to beat [H] in the vault. That's my goal now.

Soon as the fallout from realizing we lost the lead has diminished I intend to finish the voting for our slogan/motto and proceed with our plans for swag and team growth.

You've all done a remarkable job. There is no reason to be disappointed with PG it is their decision, not our influence that will eventually cause them some concern.

Re: New Heights...

Just curious as to whether they have been seeing a lot of 3EKO WUs being cancelled by the GPUGrid server today?
They're showing no credit and some are getting 5-12 hours into computation. I'll check with GPUGrid in the AM. Was just checking up on 'puters before heading to work.

EDIT: Maybe they were ones that missed deadline because of switching my GPUs to Folding for the last few days of holding 1st place til the anniversary. I'll look closer tommorrow morn.

Re: New Heights...

Just reporting back on my previous post.....
It appears that the all but 2 of the "cancelled by server WU's" were related to the switch. I thought they could make it in time after switching back, but did not. There were only 2 that were not that way but they only ran for an hour or less. That's not a bad percentage IMO.
Sorry for the early alarm. Crunch on :)

Re: New Heights...

Hey there Sean! I am still involved in the DAB and there are discussions going on. Since there is no official announcement at this time, I cannot share what we are discussing. All I can say is things are happening, interesting things.

Re: New Heights...

That's OK RJ, I understand and appreciate you responding to me as well as the support you've been (and many others) kicking to this arm of EVGA efforts. Especially recently :)
I'm hanging and watching :), but honestly, for me it's lack of choice at PG (FAH). Boinc has that. The projects are open, Honest, and I don't have to Deal with FoldingForum 'tudes when I have a question and/or bitch :)
There's always cycles with FAH, but IMO, they should reward based on Flops renderred per WU.... Not what they are currently doing.
I'm with Viper. Let's go after the Vault.... All total. Pick what piques our interests (either Arm) and let the cards fall where they fall.
We have 2 entrenched arms for our EVGA interests. Let's just put our resources where they work best. FAH is not GPU at this time.
I think we (EVGA) can grab the ultimate (world combined) crown rapidly if we can just let go of "gotta have folding".
