Just been added to the agent picklist, FiND@Home, FightNeglectedDiseases@Home which has malaria as target: Visit http://boinc.ucd.ie/ where the battle continues to find meds. Uses vina as just been trialed, same as it did for GFAM.
University College Dublin Antimalarial drug discovery The parasite that causes malaria continues to evolve resistance to available medication. We therefore urgently need to discover new drugs, targeting new proteins in the parasite. The FightNeglectedDiseases@Home project is aimed at finding these new targets. Already available via boinctasks! |

AFAIK, FiND@Home, FightNeglectedDiseases@Home, is relaunched FightMalaria@Home project. Could you, please, post the links to some results of FM@H, or some findings, or paper(s), or ...?

News about newly found drug resistance in 4 malaria patients returning to the UK just demonstrates that every time we get this question of "Can we now stop the project?" after some miracle drug news, the answer is "No Never!". We need to continue finding alternates, over and over again

It's feared indigenous malaria is back in Italy. Last winter was an excellent bug killer, but the long long long hot summer has left us with more, and aggressive they are this early September.

In July, Kenya will become the third country to join a groundbreaking pilot program to vaccinate the population against malaria, after Malawi and Ghana started immunizing children under 2 earlier this summer. The mosquito-borne disease kills almost half a million people every year, mostly in African countries, and researchers have been trying to develop an effective vaccine for more than 60 years. But this is the first time one has been approved for use. Malaria specialists are calling it "momentous." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u98QMWXXCdU

Microbe discovered that makes Malaria carrying mosquitos immune to the parasite.
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52530828 How big a discovery is it? "The data we have so far suggest it is 100% blockage, it's a very severe blockage of malaria," Dr Jeremy Herren, from the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Kenya told the BBC. |
