Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

Thanks Uplinger for the notice - thing is, on my Windows box, I'm only seeing the message "there was work but it was committed to other platforms"...

Edit: That's actually done the trick - as, by time I'd gotten back to view this message, 2 WU's had come through biggrin

Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

I have a few, one has finished already. There appears to be a large variation in run times again. I did not even have time to turn the reboot the computer. I have rebooted the computer now with no problems, so a good start.

Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

Wow...was surprised to pick up 14 of these after getting 4 of the DSFL BETA's released earlier. I still have some buckets, so maybe will still get a few more.

Rob,

Each ligand used in the calculations has a certain number of atoms and torsions. We use this to gauge our estimates against. We have seen over 340 combinations so far. The work unit splitter uses the known table to estimate the workunits. IF it doesn't find the combination in the known list then we set the estimate for that ligand to an hour. We set it that high because we did not believe we would see many smaller ligands than what we have so far. Thus this beta test will also help us populate the table even further and help with work unit splitting in the future :)

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

Thanks for the expanation, Uplinger. I have received 16 of these, and wondered why some were zipping through in a fraction of their estimated time and others were so much longer.

My first one came and went before I knew there was a beta test on. ... with 2.1 credits claimed! Very tiny indeed.

Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

Got three between two different machines, ready to start in a few minutes!

Edit:
These seems to be going by much more quickly than the first round. Maybe 40-45 minutes on a Q6600.

Tacked on a 0.5 day cache and got a bunch more, 4 units on each Quad.

Re: New Beta starting November 3, 2011 Beta 15 v 6.08

I received a few DSFL betas earlier but in the BOINC messages tab it now says Beta-Drug Search for Leishmaniasis is not available for your type of computer.

Here's a strange little quirk. I have the above message on every cruncher but 1. The ones with that message all got betas. The 1 without that message got 0 betas. Don't know if that means anything, just thought I'd throw it out there.

EDIT: Never mind. *slaps forehead*
