My request is this: allow people to use WCG without registering. Some people will see they first must register, and be deterred to continue, or not want to have to fill stuff out.
Making it easier for people to participate in WCG is obviously a good thing. Having a one click way of getting the software would probably make less possible users close the tab (some may now, because of filling stuff out (obviously I am not saying it is difficult, but to some entering some stuff is too taxing)). |

WCG uses BOINC to do computations, so please go to BOINC's own forums and ask for that first :)

DanielHendrycks,
Can do. Install BOINC without associating the client to a project, then in a DOS/terminal window navigate to where the application is installed. For instance go to "c:\program files\boinc" and type in: boinccmd --project_attach http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org 568729_7ab5b77983b49ec70feff62cc0af8210 Then you'll be contributing to the Anonymouses team. Thanks you so much in advance for every second of computing time you can spare, anonymousesly. |

"Can do."
I don't need this feature, I'm requesting it for others. |

Yes, we also have team accounts so everyone could crunch on just adding account.xml file into BOINC folder

I would like to see a web based app developed by IBM, so users could run tasks within a web interface from any computer.
For those that use twitter or similar, they could log onto any computer and using their twitter account (or WCG/email details...) goto a WCG user page and run tasks. The tasks results could be trickled back up as they progress/backed up to the cloud during the run. No installation, just log on and run. Such a web interface/browser based app/tool/add-on would be nothing like Boinc, and I can't think of anyone better suited to researching/developing such a web/cloud project than IBM. |

I have to admit I agree with the points that were stated in "http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost_post,265934". But when I talk to my coworkers about running WCG on there system the were like "sure, that sounds great" until we get to the registration page. Then they are like "I will do it later". But as soon as I say, they can just go to our internal website and download the same program but don't have to register and it goes toward the IBM group, they would download it right away.
----------------------------------------So what I am saying, is that even though WCG may loss the ability to contact anonymous users, they will get a lot more people to start crunching if it is easier to start (yes I know it is pretty easy as is) ![]() |
