The top OP links to an explanatory post saying:
We have temporarily stopped the Computing for Clean Water Project because the research server that batch results are sent to is unavailable. We will resume the project once this issue has been corrected. emphasis mine. --//-- |

@sekerob
Thanks for your message !!!! the technical problem is one of the two reasons i have launched a christmas challenge ..... we don't know if the technology will rock for a long time, we don't know about the tough future ..... it's the reason the main problem should be resolved ASAP !!!! |

Well at one point it was a server issue on the HFCC causing them to be slow. That got resolved. The HFCC project has tech and equipment on their side in Japan. Now it does take a project scientists time to go through the results especially if something interesting is found and create new work units if need be. So a project being crunched faster then anticipated will cause a delay in new crunching. This is a good thing mind you while the only misdirected griping is from those wanting a badge in the project while forgetting what the purpose of the project is. If something interesting is found they wouldn't stop sending work.They would continue sending us workunits while they go through the results. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

While I hope C4CW resumes soon, I am getting plenty of HFCC now. I have 5 projects selected here and I am only getting work for HFCC. Seems we can crunch 'em faster than "they" can process 'em.
---------------------------------------- Now we just need a big Beta test. Cheers. ![]() ![]() |

"If something interesting is found they wouldn't stop sending work."
They would have to generate new workunits. Finding something interesting would delay that if they had run out of workunits and were examining all the results. After all if a project has several hundred thousand combinations to go through say for a materials analysis to see which material is better for a clean water filter or solar panel they would to generate new workunits based on the prior research. Something interesting that would need further checking would delay the creation of new work units. They have to program things after all and they cannot start programming till they know what they have to program for. Something interesting would potentially delay the creation for months. |

Yes but they would only stop sending work if they had reached the end of the project. When a new project is launched they already know what they will want to submit. Eventually they can add new work like HFCC did(but wasn't related to any results from the grid) or like HCC(it was an extension to the original work.The project was never halted.). But what you say is true for FAAH.They sometimes use results from previous experiments to do new experiments.But there is never a shortage of work because while they are analysing say experiment 28, WCG is computing experiment 34.So we are always working ahead of scientists. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Oct 25, 2011 4:32:57 PM] |

Just got back to find one of my main PCs almost out of WUs.
----------------------------------------Didn't get any Beta WUs while C4CW stopped. Moved over to other projects for the time being. About 60 days off Sapphire for C4CW. Patrick ![]() |
