I am registering two problems with the World Community Grid Software, which are:
1. Although I have included in all projects, with the exception of beta testing, I have only received a few projects to do while the other projects I do not get more to continue to be developed. Example of research that does not get more and I'm still subscribed: Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2 and Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together. 2. I also observed that the World Community Grid software is not sent shares of developing the projects that I receive, with the exception of the Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2, all projects that get divided into two or more partitions only receives and performs the first partition of the project is available and simply does not get the other partitions of the project. |

HCMD2 and DDDT2 do not presently have tasks. They will have tasks sometime in the next month or so.
Different projects are run in different ways and have different research parameters. It takes time to understand how the WCG allocates tasks from different projects. You might want to read up on the different projects supported by the WCG and their different requirements. |

Your two "problems" are explained elsewhere on the forum.
----------------------------------------Simply, HCMD2 scientists are currently not releasing any WUs for processing. DDFT2 is an intermittant project, i.e. the scientists only send out WUs in batches, with a long time of no activity. A number of projects have WUs that are split into a number of parts. Each part is sent to a different person. HTH Patrick ![]() |

Welcome to the forum and WCG edugrassi.
----------------------------------------I do believe that the first of your "issues" have been answered already, although the second may benefit from a little more explanation. Basically, each project (or rather the scientists behind them), have different requirements on whether they wish to accept Work Units (WU's) that have only been processed by 1 computer (Zero Redundancy - ZR) or double checked (i.e., run by 2 or more computers). HPF2 is slightly different here, so I'll cover that separately. So, for ZR projects (FA@H & HFCC being two - again, there's a complete list in the FAQ's), you'll virtually only see WU's with a '_0' suffix, indicating that this is the only copy being sent out to be processed. Occasionally, you'll see a suffix of '_1' (or higher) WU, and these are sent for either WU's that have errored out/missed their deadline or for verification purposes (every now and again, a computer is verified to ensure that it's still returning valid results). With the case of HPF2, 19 WU's are initially sent out - each of them slightly different so as to return a slightly different set of results. A more thorough explanation of this, can be found in this post. Obviously, if you have any further queries, don't hesitate to come back and ask - we're a friendly bunch here ![]() ![]() |

Honestly, no.
Thanks for the welcome to the forum. So I waited a bit to see if it matched what was explained to me here, but just do not match. I am quoting below some of the results status so that they understand: "Project Name: Computing for Clean Water Created: 10/17/2011 12:59:20 Name: c4cw_target04_154859127 Minimum Quorum: 2 Replication: 2 c4cw_ target04_ 154859127_ 1-- 641 Pending Validation 18/10/11 20:44:44 21/10/11 12:46:51 5.03 90.2 / 0.0 c4cw_ target04_ 154859127_ 0-- - In Progress 18/10/11 20:40:16 28/10/11 20:40:16 0.00 0.0 / 0.0" and "Project Name: Drug Search for Leishmaniasis Created: 10/20/2011 01:04:25 Name: DSFL_00000039_0000027_0269 Minimum Quorum: 2 Replication: 2 DSFL_ 00000039_ 0000027_ 0269_ 1-- 619 Pending Validation 21/10/11 20:32:07 24/10/11 16:28:50 9.48 167.9 / 0.0 DSFL_ 00000039_ 0000027_ 0269_ 0-- - In Progress 21/10/11 20:31:30 31/10/11 20:31:30 0.00 0.0 / 0.0" As you can see, the 02 (two) projects above are replicated in 02 (two) pieces each. Does the system 02 (two) research replicated in "Pending Validation" and the other 02 (two) are replicated research "In progress". However, the World Community Grid Software installed on my computer and upload them only received replicated research appearing in the system in "Pending Validation". The research contained in the replicated system as "In progress" AREN“T BEING RECEIVED by the World Community Grid software installed on my computer. Therefore not replicated this research appeared in the system "In progress" are not being developed by the World Community Grid software installed on my computer. I always watch the projects names and results names of research that are sent to the World Community Grid software installed on my computer. Since I have been constantly this problem since the first days of October. That's why I report to the forum. |

Hi Edugrassi,
What you have quoted are tasks that have two identical workloads that have been sent out - this can happen even for single redundancy tasks such as C4CW. You get one of the two workloads and someone else gets the other (called your wingman). Both workloads have to be returned in order for validation to take place. The reason for this is to ensure that identical results are returned to ensure no problem with either computer. Generally the other workload is returned quickly, but in some cases, it can take longer to return - but usually it gets returned within ten days. If it doesn't, an emergency workload will be sent. So in general, you have to be patient for your wingman to return its task. I have 4 tasks waiting for the corresponding wingmen in my list. You will eventually get credit. Just be patient. |

Tasks such as human protein folding send out about 19 copies of each workunit since it's supposed to generate a slightly different result for each wingman.
Yes be patient on the wingman. I know it's irriating when the wingman's task gets sent out to another wingman since the first wingman got an error or didn't meet the deadline. |

Hi edugrassi, please rest assured, everything looks to be working as designed going by the information you've provided.
----------------------------------------As you're a new member to WCG (and this occurs whenever someone adds a new device - whether as a new member or someone who's been here a long, long time and has just upgraded their computer), there is a short time when, even for Zero Redundancy projects (i.e., those who only send out 1 copy of a WU to be processed - such as FA@H & HFCC), two copies of the exact Work Unit (WU) are sent out, so as to validate them and the device processing them. Therefore, if going by the two examples you've provided, both of which had a suffix of "_1" tagged right at the end of the WU, then someone else's computer (it might even have been mine - if I had DSfL and/or C4CW selected), would process the "_0" versions. Once both have been returned to WCG, then they'd be compared to each other - and, if they match, everything's valid. If not, then a third copy is sent out whilst the first two are set as "Inconclusive", and the third copy would be the decider. So, please, rest assured, everything looks to be working okay. Again, if you're not quite sure about the explanation I've provided, please come back and hopefully, someone else's explanation will be clearer. Edit: Just in case you didn't see it, soon you should start receiving new work for the Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2, as the issue which was preventing work from being sent out, has now been resolved (first though, there's just a small issue of a ton of work held on the WCG systems which needs to be sent across to the HCMD2 scientists...). ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Oct 27, 2011 4:14:52 PM] |
