Good Morning MOT Congratulations Bon Kuhlman, finman and Judson Keith... no offence.. I knew it was just a Google Search and not a endorsement. A decade or two ago it was the siding salesmen that were famous for the flimflam. Looks like they have moved on to the solar business. It just did not look "right" to me. My "BS" detector is usually quite effective. Perhaps it is overactive this time. Anyway, Things are going reasonably well in these parts. One of my Granddaughters has to be in Ft. Worth tomorrow so will be here later today. .Everyone have a Great Day ![]() None taken RT. It always pays to be cautious. You may be a bit right too. The site seems to have a lot of good information about the various tax credits, rebates and such that are out there but vary widely depending on where you live. They may be a starting point for getting that information. I've noticed that the installers (who have to be certified as well) that they can refer you to are places that PAY them for the leads. For manfacturers and such, they can PAY them to promote their products. I can't blame the guys that set up the site for trying to may a little money with it. What they charge doesn't seem way unreasonable when you consider it relative to the cost of a solar install. It would seem that they're trying to keep their list of installers to decent ones but I would be cautious about contacting installers through them. Then again, it's not much different from trying to choose someone to do some home renovations when you don't know any. For me, the point I want folks to take away from this is you don't have to be in CA to go solar. You'll have to buy the system and it can be expensive but you want to be sure to find out about what tax incentives, rebates and such that you can get in your area and take advantage of them. If I was going to go solar at this point, I'd take the info from this site and confirm it elsewehere, find several installers that work in my area and get quotes from them on what sort of system they'd recommend (looking to see if they include all the incentives, rebates as such in it), check with my electric utility about whether they will buy my "extra" power (co-generation), check references on the installers, and basically treat it like any home renovation project ( and maybe add a second opinion from a separate electrician too). |

Next day GeraldRuby has a great day we will break a record!!! I have lost two crunchers in the last few days--a quad core AMD and a dual core Intel--i think it is motherboard problems ![]() Bummer. Hopefully it is not that Dell.No the Dell is a I7 2630QM @ 2GHs--I really like this laptop --Oh i just remembered the Dell you gave me in Marble Falls is running great--It had some kind of hiccup and i installed Win7 on it-- ![]() My son is using a Duo and he has had problems with the display cutting out. He had previously installed a graphics card before this problem started. He had obtained some information which said it might be the power supply, and he got a new p.s with no change to the problem. We are thinking it might be the graphics card, but I was also wondering if it might help to move to Win7. Any suggestions? It is not likely that a move to Win7 will fix that. Odds are that if the display just cuts out occasionally, it is the card, the card drivers or some sort of connection issue either with the card connecting to the motherboard or the cable connecting the card to the display. Moving to Win7 would only solve the driver issue if it is a driver issue. My guess it is one of the others. First thing to do would be to take that card out and see if it will work without cutting out. If it quits, then the problem is one of the above.. So put it back in checking connections carefully, Still there, update the drivers and make sure all other software is up to date. Still there...likely the card itself. PS could have been the problem but you have eliminated that. |

Good Morning MOT Congratulations smcclarigan Gerald: Glad it wasn't that Dell. I used that thing as my main machine for a year or so. Sometimes you just get good ones. Sorry to hear about the others. Good thing NewEgg has rush processing. (BTW, I have used that twice in the past few years and it really worked). I know, I sound like a commercial for them. No I don't get anything for recommending them, I just like to support organizations that actually do what they say...so few of them around. Everyone have a great day. I am going to spend mine with my eldest granddaughter and her husband. ![]() |

I don't know if this will be the problem with your son's computer, but I just fixed a computer that had the same problem. And as soon as I opened the lid, I knew what the problem was. The motherboard had two PCIE slots for video cards, and the customer had put the card in the second slot. I moved it to the first slot, which is the primary, and he hasn't had the problem again.

I just finished talking with Steven about this problem, and he says the problem started getting worse over a period of time until now it occurs almost immediately after power on. I was thinking it might be dirty contacts on the card which might mean all we need to do is pull the card and reseat it. Any ideas on this approach? Also thinking about getting a 2 GB graphics card, a GTX 550 Ti. Comments please. |
