As an aside, if you don't mind one more question, how do I ensure the client is getting preference settings from the web as opposed to local config file? I can't find anything in the menus to specify a preference either way... Open preferences from the menu and click the clear button. This will revert it to looking at the web page for preferences. As others have said, there is no problem using local preferences as long as you remember that's where they are. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

I can't find anything in the menus to specify a preference either way... In client, then you opens-up the Preferences, regardless of which of the 3 tabs you're looking-at there's a "Clear"-button in the upper right corner, and answer "Yes" on the dialogue that pops-up. BTW, slight change on the logging-options, <file_xfer> is default on, so it's not really any reason to include this at all. (*) <file_xfer_debug> on the other hand I'll recommend to keep on, since you'll get the upload/download-speeds printed-out, and also the URL you're trying to connecting to. Also, <http_debug> is the most important other logging-option to track-down connection-problems. (*): This is for answering posts on a computer that don't have BOINC... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

that's fantastic, thanks guys :) I'll leave it for a couple of weeks, then try removing the line from the hosts file and see if the WCG techs have resolved the problem... Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it :D
