nasher,
I'm afraid I will never catch up to you now! I have 1 shiny new 8 core that runs quite speedily, one 8 core that runs pretty slowly, and one really old 2 core that runs quite slowly (and no more coming online). I was slowly catching you but I think that I will be looking at your tail lights forever now. ![]() |

Even a slow PC can help add run time to your stats.
----------------------------------------I have a Dell2400 P4 at 2.4 GHz (single core no hyperthreading) and it runs HCC just fine in about 3 hours). So the P4 is useful as it provides nearly 24 hours of run time per day. Also have a P4 at 2.0 Ghz and a P3 at 800 Mhz that are problematic and I don't have the patience to keep them running. They will most likely be added to the pile of PCs at the recycling center. I think you all are doing just fine and if you are happy that is all that matters. Personally, I believe that the stats are not that important to anyone but the cruncher. There is a certain boaster/bragger that has 80+ years of run time and likes to tell everyone about it. Self praise, exaggeration, and claims of superiority have no place here. Unfortunately someone did not get the memo.

gretchch and nasher,
----------------------------------------At your current rate of run time and average run time in 2.761904762 years you both will have 53.21904762 years of run time. I used the stats in your signatures in the calculation and Excel What If Analysis > Goal Seeking Can you tell I have more free time and don't know what to do with it?

I think we need to do that calculation again in a couple of weeks, once nasher's new 8 core is running at steady state.
It took me at least 3 weeks to have my "host average" stabilize after I brought my new 8 core online. I still see the occasional bump up or down when I crunch different projects. |
