Hi, I really like the lectures but prefer to be able to download them and even more so prefer to be able to just listen to them.
With the "Clean Energy Project - Lecture Series" this was possible. But with the more recent "Discovering Dengue Drugs" I wasn't able to (or, it is possible that I just tried harder and "~engineered~" the "CEP" one?). So basically, I would hope that the lectures could be made directly download-able and available as just audio too. Thanks |

And now it appears that the latest lecture series (re: The Human Proteome Folding Project - Phase 2) is made available... as a YouTube stream. Which is the epitome of bass-ackward, wasteful CPU time ...and 'net bandwidth.
Can you guys please start making the lectures available as audio that can be downloaded? Thanks. |

Can't you just use a youtube downloader?

Yeah.
But it would be much nicer to have the lectures available in a centralized place -- like here at World Community. No multitude of wasteful streams, no multitude of wasteful processing. Just nicely download-able, processed and available in a centralized place. Sort of like using resources the smartest way. Sort of like the whole idea here. Sort of like avoiding miserable, wasteful, chaotic sites like youtube.com... and sort of like also avoiding having to deal with greyware. |

Thanks, man.
But I really don't think you understand what I'm suggesting here. I don't want to install any software (especially with a "Buy Music" menu). I don't want to patronize a wasteful and backwards site like youtube. In any way. At all. Ever. As it is the antithesis of smart smart resource utilization... and worse. I think it would be nice to be able to download the lectures as audio-only or videos. Here. From World Community Grids' site. Download them. Once. Already processed (again, once). Listen to them without net-lag possibilities. Have them. Move them around to my devices. Move them to others' devices. |

I don't think that this can be considered a priority for the techs so I guess it won't be implemented anytime soon.
----------------------------------------And downloading or viewing a video for a couple of minutes surely won't have a huge impact on crunching. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |
