Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

Yikes !!! It is dropping fast worried ... I'm still 95 days away from the pretty green badge (which I hope to reach in 20 days). But at this rate of decent (AKA free fall), it's looking difficult to make it to the target sad . Gotta keep crunching... biggrin

Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

The rate at which this will drop is going to be even higher soon. I've still got HPF2 work units crunching on my cluster with DSFL in my queue as soon as HPF2 work units are completed.

Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

I seem to be a little ahead (currently crunching aprox 5 days worth of WUs every 24 hours) which means I should make emerald in aprox 15 days vs the current daily 4 day drop for DSFL which means that there are aprox 18 days left to the project (please take this with a grain of salt... this is a very, very aprox and I don't have access to WCG's inner sanctum to hear all the juicy gossip biggrin). Anyway... I'm crunching away relentlessly on DSFL.

Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

cjslman, I personally, really do hope that there's many more days of DSFL to crunch than what you're estimating - otherwise, there'll be no chance of me hitting yet another goal (Emerald).

Also, if DSFL finishes that soon (i.e., before a new project get's a chance to be launched), then project choice around here will be very thin on the ground.

Just moved 80 cores to DSFL this morning. Still have about 3 days of HPF2 in the queue to process first...

I hope that I'm wrong too (my observations were from watching DSFL dropping 4 days at a time on Sekerob's Research Dashboard). But after reading Doneske's post, I think that the daily DSFL slide will get worse sad. Anyway, I'll try to be a little more scientific and do my homework and explain how I came to my forecast of days left to crunch for DSFL (can't do it now because the stats are being updated).

[EDIT]: Back in April-May DSFL was averaging 50 years a day aprox. Starting June it went up to 70-75 years a day. Since June 10, DSFL is averaging 113 (max 123.7) years a day. For the last 4-5 days, Sekerob's DSFL chart has been dropping 4 days every day. Time will tell. biggrin
[EDIT June 16] Sekerob's chart shows a drop of 2 days for DSFL (71 days left)... maybe the slowdown is starting to show it's effects. biggrin
[EDIT June 17] Chart now shows 67 days... 4 less than yesterday sad
[EDIT June 18] Chart showing 64 days left... 3 less shock

Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

cjslman, I'm sure your figures are correct - what I'm really hoping for though, is that the WCG techs will really throttle back DSFL so as to allow it to run until another (new) project starts.

Just having SN2S (which is already throttled back), CEP2 (which is 'opt-in'), and then FA@H as the only options available when, not long ago, there were 7, 8 or 9 projects to choose from, probably wouldn't appeal to many crunchers. Yes, of course, there may be plenty of work to do in those remaining 3 projects - although when there's competition from other BOINC projects 'out there', that may not be enough to keep people here at WCG.

Welcome to the/back to the project. If you would like to help me out with badges for this project let me know and I will give you my soft key. lol. I would be interested to know how many days per calendar day of processing power you provide to the project? I provide about 5. I have a I 7 980 X at 3.43 GHz running about 12 hours a day

Re: The "Drug Search for Leishmaniasis" Crunching Chart

About 93 or 94 days or so. That's to WCG (Finishing up HPF2, CEP2, and now DSFL). Running a couple of Climate@Home WUs on the larger machines plus Asteroids@Home on the Pentium(s) since HCC ended. The average is down to about 76 now due to a power outage whilst I was in Las Vegas last week at an IBM Conference. All machines except 2(10 cores) were down for about 5 days. The average is building back up slowly as WUs return and validate. As you can imagine, most clients are running WUs in high priority mode trying to catch up.
