Hi all :)
Who is ranked no.1 on WCG rankings? i'm ranked 54,000th but my goal is to be in the top 1000 one day :) How many folding machines would the no.1 ranked person have running 24/7 at any one time? I'm thinking probably 50+ overclocked monsters, probably mostly 2600k's @ 4.6ghz+ all going crazy :) FOLD ON MY FRIENDS, WE ARE FOLDING FOR A CURE!!! (and to solve problems) :) |

Also please post how many machines you have folding and their general specs.
ATM I have one i5 3.2 650, 4 gig ram machine folding 24/7, i am adding a new, faster box to fold with it 24/7 soon too. |

Number 1 as far as Run Time:
----------------------------------------marist_college 6520:026:08:34:15 Avg. Run Time Per Calendar Day (y:d:h:m:s) 2:289:04:44:31 Device Installations 7,256 (doesn't mean total computers) I don't know of a way to figure #1 for a Indv. with only personal computers. ![]() ![]() |

It really depends on your definition of "Who is ranked No. 1" - as, is that in Time, No. of Results Returned, or No. of Points?
----------------------------------------Then, in each of those categories, there's the "All-Time" and "Yesterday". On the Members Statistics page, there are a number of lists available - see here Run Time So, in all totals, marist_college are the tops... Edit: Just out of curiosity, I calculated that, to generate 9 years, 124 day's worth of crunching in a 24 hr period, you need, at a minimum, 3,409 cores... ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by gb009761 at Aug 20, 2011 3:46:33 PM] |

Good luck with your goal. I just broke the 1100 barrier (in points) myself this morning. That is after crunching since January 2006, always with multiple computers. Currently I have 25-29 active cores 24/7.

That's the number of concurrently active work units at any given time. Most of my machines are AMD but I do have a couple Intel laptops with HT.

I'm down to 2 crunching machines. Believe in most possible cores in one box instead of many boxes. My 2 crunchers are servers I built, which is a heck of allot cheaper than buying them. My main cruncher is a hex westmere (12 threads) with an open socket. Saving up for a second processor. My second cruncher has 2 quad westmere (16 threads) processors. Hope to change these to hex processors in the future.

I've been crunching since 2005 with typically two cores, and I am currently listed as #6,726 in run time rank. I think getting into the top 1,000 is near impossible as an individual unless your house contains a server farm. A goal of getting into the top 10,000 is probably more attainable, but still quite a challenge for any newcomer even with a handful of multi-threaded machines!

So even if I get say 3 more boxes all with 2600k's oced to 4.6ghz all with 4 gig of 2200mhz ram all running 24/7 that wouldnt be enough to get me into the top 1000 for any title even after 2 years of that?
