Can't resolve host name: Internet ok Project servers may be down[Resolved]

"Can't resolve host name: Internet ok Project servers may be down."

I keep getting this message on my last running Linux machine. I looked in the FAQs. No luck. The project severs are not down so what is going on? Time is set correctly.

DOTSCH 1.64 based on Ubuntu.

nanoprobe,

Was there not an issue with an older Dotch release? Assuming it worked before, shut down the BOINC service, then the computer and restart. may work.

Your internet is verified to be up, so it´s something HTTPS, and with the server IP changes (member news), maybe old DNS is not resolving properly on that machine.

''memory"... Yes hmmm, and somehow recollect there was a similar case for someone a previous time. Let me scan for a keyword combo.

Done.
This is the third memory issue on 3 different machines that I've had in the last month. One would lock up, another would black screen and now this one. These are reasons I am replacing all my memory that fails with GSkills that have a lifetime warranty. Only ever had 1 failure and they replaced it at no charge. All it cost me was the $5 USD to ship the defective ones back. cowboy

PS. As for DOTSCH Linux, it doesn't play well with the new chipsets and the coder says he doesn't have time to rewrite the program at this time so I'm phasing them out in favor of Windows for now. If he updates the code at some future time I'll use it again.

There alternates to DOTSCH Linux that are ultra small, some still having GUI and fit on an USB. Here's one that was bookmarked weeks ago for Read Later [Again] and post in the ''Confez'' thread:
Maybe fits your bill

Thanks Sek. I'll take a look when I get home. I've pretty much gone away from running Linux on USB drives, Too many projects they can't handle. Running mostly recycled 20GB HDDs these days.
