Windows x64 Client

Hi,
I see at the BOINC website there's a Win x64 version for download.
Could you please customize and make a WCG Win x64 version available for download also?
Thanks in advance

Re: Windows x64 Client

Hi,

It's not needed. The 32 bit compiled client fetches 64 bit work too if available.

The customization is pretty much limited to the skin, else there are only small config tweaks that mainly are of interest to the large account partners who like to do version control e.g. If you move that skin folder of the WCG 32 bit install into the same place for the 64 bit install, you'll have the skin too. Window 7-64 I think puts the data/skins in same place as W7-32... default C:\ProgramData\BOINC.

The BOINC agent itself is placed differently:

64 bit WINOS, 64 bit agent: C:\Program files\BOINC
64 bit WINOS, 32 bit agent: C:\Program Files(x86)\BOINC

Hi danielmn, welcome to the forums.

As answered and explained in the other message, you can use the WCG supported BOINC version found at: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do to run very well over Windows 64 Bit.

Many crunchers use it for long time now without significant issues. Good luck.

That's OK.

When I wrote:

it is long as the client detects there to be a 64 bit OS and transmit that to the servers.

Happy crunching.

So, if you are interested in change experiences and share knowledge, tips, information, news, ideas, initiatives and so on, with other Brazilians, you are invited to participate with us in our thread where you can find a lot of coments that will help you with any doubts and issues in WCG.

We decides write the thread mainly in Portuguese to facilitate and reach more people from Brazil which aren't fluent in English. It's work very well. Will be a honnor have you there with us. Regards. wink
