Herna, you posted CEP2 normal production result logs. Beta jobs have BETA in the name as prefix, unless WCG does a real stealthy test [which could then go via the normal production feeders.

Re: New Set of Beta WU's - FAAH

So far I have competed 4 total from 3 machines. The laptop had 2 errors. This machine doesn't like some projects, but never crapped out on Fight Aids @ Home. The laptop did pick up 2 more WU's, so I will see what they do.

Followed by a whole bunch of debug info (I can post it if needed, but it's a bit long). Is this some kind of BOINC crash instead of a problem with the science app?

Re: New Set of Beta WU's - FAAH

I am happy to report that I managed to obtain 6 of these tasks. All have a two-day deadline. Two have completed in less than 5 hours, without a problem. The other 4 are still crunching away, as would be expected with the mix of tasks available from FAAH.

I am curious about what will be learned from each of the reasearch projects running "beta" tests using apparently existing science tasks? Surely the beta tests are long past and the applications have proven stable?

Is this perhaps a way of introducing beta tests for a new project without us noticing? confused

In the log above, I've bolded the suspect entry. That implies it ran 10x estimated runtime. Hard to comprehend given the test is now about 14 hours old, but if the original estimates in the first lot were that much off, then it could have happened.

2 cent spec.
