System crash with nvidia video driver

Hi,

I've installed the WCG software two days ago and on one XP box, the nvidia video driver crashes while crunching. Any thoughts?

The first time the computer was running in standard VGA mode. Reboot to fix.

Second time, a few hours later, the computer had the Blue screen of death and the error was in nvida.

Video card: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS
Video driver version: 6.14.12.6724 (2/23/2011)

XP Pro, 2002, Service pack 3.
Intel Core2 Quad CPU (Q6600)

Re: System crash with nvidia video driver

Hi.

Nvidia drivers usually cause lots of errors.
I had to rollback to a 266.58 while the current driver is 275.33

I suggest you install a older driver since WCG doesn't use GPU hence impossible to be the cause.

Try this one

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-266.58-whql-driver.html

Uninstall the current installed driver and reboot and only then install the new one!!

Re: System crash with nvidia video driver

Hi,

I disabled the screen saver and GPU and so far no crashes/lockups.

Re: System crash with nvidia video driver

The 275 drivers under Linux are also not exactly stable. Flipping between Terminal and GUI fails to restore screen. The very latest .19, few days after the previous autoupdate, made no difference, though it did come from the official repository. Think to go back to 270 or before, whatever it was before that update.
