William - I didn't quite know how to say, thank you, for the gift of
----------------------------------------"This Year". The message conveyed was beautiful and very well written. If you are the author, my admiration - and I look forward to your continued participation in our little thread here. :) "For last year's words belong to last year's language And next year's words await another voice." - T.S. Eliot Awakening Your casual smile Those tender eyes belie An off-hand touch That lingers just a little while Inside a warmth that Stimulates a pain To reacquaint the heart With love again Your voice indifferent In its subtle guise Brings back the buds Of soft and sweet surprise |

Thanks D-Best - I wrote that for my wife on a Christmas card I made her a few years ago. Glad you liked it. It was one of the last ones I wrote - moved to Los Angeles and kind of just fizzled out, figured I wasn't going to be a real poet, though I did self-publish a novel with quite a bit of poetry in it, mine and bits and pieces of some of my favorite poets - including Larry Levis's "Elegy with a Bridle in Its Hand." They fit well with the narrative, and if the very few readers got interested in those poets, all the better. Writing is a very lonely thing, lonelier when nobody reads it.
----------------------------------------But hey - I gave myself a chainsaw for Christmas! Wish I could use it to edit myself. ![]() |

“The moment of writing is not an escape...it is only an insistence,

Bright Day
----------------------------------------Such happiness was mine Love came swiftly on flaming wings Sunlight Our shadows were discreet And played about the old oak tree Alas They warned us not to meet To wilt and weep - my heart to die Despair Fair day turned starless night Farewell, fair knight, my love, goodbye |

Love it
----------------------------------------When you have to read them twice and then a third time It was beautiful this morning. White over and a clear blue sky. My journey to work now coincides with the Sun just peeking above the ridge known as the Chevin, casting everything in the golden morning light. A day to turn the car around and head into the Dales... Sadly I spent the day staring stressed out at a screen instead. Beverley I saw the Man himself play this in his set at the Harrogate Royal Hall last night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo8U20LicdU My favourite of the evening was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3vTj_YB6ys Youtube doesn't quite make the same impact as 3rd row from the front, centre aisle with a least 2 Kilowatts of front of house - you feel it through you. If only the seat beside me hadn't been empty. Walked out into gently falling snowflakes ![]() |

Oh wow. Guitar poetry. Where did he come from? Or rather, why have I never heard him, or of him? True, I don't get out much, except into nature.... Thanks for turning me on to this music. I'm gonna download some of his songs and make an album for my wife on her birthday.

"Guitar poetry" for sure. Those selections were wonderful!
---------------------------------------- You were fortunate to see him in person, Dave. A brilliant guitarist from Australia, William :) |
