WHERE are WCG's server status pages?? /server_status.php ???
----------------------------------------I actively participate in five other BOINC projects. EVERY one of these has a webpage of the form …/…/server_status.php I can not, despite diligent searching, find any such page for www.worldcommunitygrid.org nor for my worldcommunitygrid project. I was of the understanding that a page such as …/server_status.php , for getting information on the number of work units or tasks available, was an integral part of BOINC HOW can I find out the server status, the number of work units or tasks available at any given time? Thank you, L. Pallos BS BSEd MS PhD, Prof. Eng. [Edit 2 times, last edit by God is Love -- Jesus proves it at May 8, 2011 3:24:21 AM] |

Hey, according to the various letters and calls I receive, you've got one less title than I have :D
----------------------------------------On topic, there is no status page. WCG is 99.9x% up and if they are there's news on FB and Tw, if they are not down, so why would they ;>) Various 3rd party stats sites keep a list of projects that are up and intermittent or down and else, the client in the Event or message log will indicate what specific problem is lurking. --//-- PS, better remove your email address or spamming will be your gain (loss if you will). edit: Note that this was asked a dozen times, if not dozens of times, and [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at May 6, 2011 8:23:13 PM] |

WCG is the only Boinc using project that does not have a server status page, and I raised this about a month ago. Not sure why you want one but if it's any consolation I got no official response either. Fortunately it is rare that this project goes down, or has a problem (it's well run by IBM), but it does occasionally happen, and some of us do work on many projects. The reason problems are even noticeable is that the WCG has many active projects. If the WCG just ran one project you could probably reduce the downtime to about a 7th of what it is. The reason I wanted a status page is to see each project listed with no problems, problems, downtime, outages and so on, rather than just a WCG is down page (as this rarely happens). Just so I can goto a single page when I have problems on one or more of many systems I have attached, to eliminate server side issues. It's easier and faster than trawling the forums for problems, or being the first to report an apparent issue.

Thanks for the reply. Simply knowing that "the server is up" if a far cry from posting the number of tasks or work units which are available to send. Moreover, which server -- there are numerous projects... I do not indiscriminately sing up for any project. Yes, apparently a do-to item long overdue !! PS perhaps the search feature could be improved... I spent a good bit of time searching the forum for the keywords server status, etc, and never came across any of these "dozens" of posts. Thank you, L. Pallos BS BSEd MS PhD, Prof. Eng. PS I COULD HAVE SHOUTED: WHERE ARE THE WGC SERVER STATUS PAGES ?? ![]() |

![]() Yes, apparently a do-to item long overdue !! Seriously? ... Prof. Eng. ![]() Try Fire Fox's built in spellchecker - it's Prof proof PS perhaps the search feature could be improved... Indeed, or you would have found many previous suggestions that the search feature needs improving ![]() |

... or neither of you two are "skilled" enough to find light standing with your back to the exit of the tunnel, 1 meter away... a picture that can be drawn with crayons too, quite artfully :P
The ''new'' forum software [it's been 2 years in place, so would expect for skgiven to be at the minimum knowing about it by now], has had quite good search functionality, but it does require to visit the RTFM to know that multiple words searched need a + connector or an AND, boolean some would call that, the advanced search allowing to find posts on specific forums, authors, date ranges and more. Did put the search result in my first reply in this thread... leading to the posts by knreed ;) --//-- |
