How To Install Synecdoche BOINC Client to a Linux System?

Scrub the topic. I got helpful answers elsewhere from someone that knew what they were talking about.

============================

P.S. My experience of the usefulness of Synecdoche on a Windows system is that it is (in essence) 'portable'. That is something that a 'standard' release of BOINC isn't.

The capability is very useful in some contexts for ease of system maintenance. Being able to drag and drop the Synecdoche 'install folder' (contains all working data as well) anywhere, launch again and it carries on from where it left off with no issues, is a huge bonus. Which was, according to statements at the Synecdoche website, part of the intention of the developers; and a capability that earlier BOINC had but that was coded out in later development. 'Newer' isn't necessarily better and if it isn't better then all it is fashion to provide 'Newer' - keeps some glaze-eyed and consuming for life.

I wanted to retain 'portablility' for using a client on a Linux system. Now I think I know a very straightforward way of how-to. Cheers!

Re: How To Install Synecdoche BOINC Client to a Linux System?

Hello, I presume this is on the Synecdoche folks to answer. From what I saw on their website, their packages (not updated for a year from what I understood) are behind what regular BOINC already offers. Also, I failed to grasp what they are after, but, well, ...

From your comments I see you need help with some basic vocabulary - not via the net but nearby. Any a bit more experienced Linux user would do. What came to mind was that you might want to consider finding one of these

near to you and bring a laptop with your installation along. If this is not possible, ask again, but at least from my side there would only be a pointer on the regular BOINC clients.
