I just found out about this project yesterday and am trying to support. I installed the program and everything went fine. Woke up this morning and my computer was off. Booted up and used computer as normal. Walked away for a bit and came back computer was off again.
The only thing new was Boinc Agent. Currently have it removed due to crashing issue. Would love to give you any additional info but since it keeps turning off my computer I have nothing to offer. |

Hello Genser,
I have never heard of this happening before. Did you download BOINC from WCG? What sort of computer do you have? What OS? How many cores? Lawrence |

Genser, are you sure the system is just not going to sleep/hibernating?
Some system details and observations might help: System and component temps, Operating system version, Boinc Version (Boinc Manager, Messages, first page). Start, Run, eventvwr.exe What is causing the crash? You might want to select to use 50% of the CPU processors (Boinc Manager, Advanced Preferences, processor usage). Good luck, |

Do you experience this behavior with other CPU intensive applications? Say, games or image manipulation. I've found that hardware problems that would otherwise go unnoticed become apparent once the system is under a heavier load.

You could eliminate the BOINC application itself as a possible problem by performing a different stress test.
Prime95 is a good one. Note that there's both a 64 and a 32 bit version of this. The link below is to the 64 bit, but there's a link on the page that goes to the 32 bit. http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205 |
