Building a new house is pretty much what it is. For instance, the back wall used to be a 2X4 frame from ground level to the living space. That has been changed to a concrete block wall filled with rebar and concrete. The new driveway has been started and filled with base rock so the construction crews can have a safe place to park while they do their work. It also provided a way for trucks from the lumber company to make deliveries and for concrete to be delivered for the garage and storage room floors. My wife has taken pictures of everything being done.

Oh! Thinking about the Mojave reminds me, how's the electric bill now Chris?  Dave, now that your remodel is done, how's getting solar in going?Hi Keith, Just got my bill yesterday, and it came in a -176 hours. I ended up get a $22.05 credit. Funny thing is, they are still charging me $1.77 for delivery (distribution) charges. I guess I can handle that, though - perhaps I will send them a roll of nickels. But, my average daily usage went from 51.07 kWh a day this month last year, to -5.87 a day this year. I got brave this weekend and fired up the spa. I had it heating during the day while the panels were at their peek. So far, so good - I am still working on a negative with the meter! Oh yeah, I went around my office and showed a few people my bill. They were shocked (no pun intended). They are now calling to get quotes. Thanks for asking, Keith!

Okay, you folks are convincing. Solar is on the list to look into. Don't know how economically viable it might be here but I don't have to get a fast payback, just worthwhile savings. Besides, I'd probably go for the battery storage if that works out just to max the power I'd use from solar. Since I'm going to have to replace the roof soon enough, following that with solar probably would be good timing.
----------------------------------------Oh, I've also started taked vitamin D too. Just a 1000 IU so far but I'll probably build that up over time. |
