Set Project / Task Priority?

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked, but is there a setting on the website or locally on BOINC that we can change to give certain projects / tasks a higher priority on our list of tasks ready to be run? I ask because I am set to only have 1 CEP2 task at a time and I want those to be run first when I get them.

Re: Set Project / Task Priority?

Short of making tasks with closer deadlines run sooner, there isn't a setting for making certain tasks or projects run faster.

The solution I would recommend for you is to keep your cache as small as possible. If you've set it to only one CEP2 task, than it will only download one at a time and will not get more until that one has been reported as complete. The smaller cache will assure those units get done sooner so you can download another.

Re: Set Project / Task Priority?

A good idea, except my cache is already at 0 extra days of work. Right now I have 1 task waiting per core so I guess thats as good as its going to get. Thanks!

Re: Set Project / Task Priority?

You should increase the number of CEP2 tasks you run at any one time. Most systems are capable of running at least 2. The setting is for the maximum you will run at any given time, so you could be running less, but never more.
The only thing you can do is suspend the other tasks to force the CEP2 task to run, but you will not pick up any new tasks when WCG tasks are suspended, so you would need to remember to enable them again.
