My Macbook seems to devote very little time to this even if I just let it sit and I'm not using it. I have it set to start BOINC if the computer is idle for one minute. I also have to push the start button to get the computer active again after a little while. It should start when I touch any key. Ideas? Thanks.

Apparently your computer Power Options turn your computer to minimal speed afterr some timeout. You need to set it to run always.
