Install Boinc on domain controller and dedicate cores to boinc

Here is a trick to run boinc on a domain controller and also to dedicate certain cores to boinc and leave others free.

We, I installed and ran the free Oracle VM Box. it is easy to use. just install an additional os that can run boinc and select the number of cores you want to use and install boinc on the virtual os and voila. that is it.

go it running on my primary and secondary domain controllers using 11 cores per server of the 12 available. Worked smoothly and increased my contribution. Thank you Oracle.

Re: Install Boinc on domain controller and dedicate cores to boinc

Hi

You can run BOINC on a DC using version 5.10.45 without use of your VM workaround. The 6.xx fails because it want to create and use a special limited user account, which a DC wont permit.

Think it was brinktastee that posted a way about how to install a 6.xx also on a DC... somewhere on the forums.

Welcome to WCG and thanks for participating.
