Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

Sek, is it the scheduler that sets the report deadline on a WU? I think it is. At any rate, I think the server time is off by an hour. Normally, I would see the deadline on new WUs at 10 days from when they were sent to me. Since the server came back up, it's 10 days and 1 hour. No big deal but could possibly affect something else that matters.

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

It's that annual fun time again where BOINC corrects for DST in the projected deadline, in anticipation. Not sure but in the USA that seems to require twice annual law change which then MS pushes out via a fix to Windows. On the Result Status page it is very likely unmoving, or?

edit then or than, that's the question :D

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

DOH! I think it IS about that time again. Funny how that just happened at the same time. I hate the way the politicans mess with DST here. The one week they pushed it out in fall really messed up the Halloween holiday for kids. It doesn't get dark until about 7:30. Besides, at my age, I hate the idea of DST to begin with. laughing

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

tomast,

What'd you expect after a 5 hour scheduler outage... the servers not struggling to catch up what they otherwise already do under substantial load? It will settle, so please give it and the techs time.

thx

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

Hi
This is far from resolved from my side of things.
Since the downtime have not been able to download fully a single pxx work unit over in ddd2 although the sxx do get through.
takes many hours to report completed tasks bashing the update.
Have two pxx work units that have now been trying to download for over 14 hours!
the large files of cep2 get through with a little struggle.
If this is resolved why do I continually get these messages?
A very small sample of now the reams of stuff in messages.

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

You never reported back in the other thread on lowering the DL Bandwidth: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30973

The discussion may be moot though as the techs just report to have reverted to the kernel prior to the one updated on Wednesday https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30976 which will likely have accounted for the double scheduler counter some including yourself have observed here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...973_lastpage,yes#lastpost

The techs apologize for the troubles of the past days.

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

Hi
Thanks for the reply
Lowering the bandwidth unfortunately had no effect so have put it back to normal (00)
have 5 tasks now trying to download and have been for many hours.
But just connecting with the project is proving very difficult.
My last successful download of a pxx job was yesterday 7.10 am just before the crash.

Re: Server is down. [RESOLVED]

I had and have similar issues for today - after hitting "Update" there is just the "update requested by user" message in the log, nothing else happens (no reply, no visible task-reporting).

After restarting boinc I get

04.03.2011 12:33:22 World Community Grid Message from server: Completed result ts01_xxx_0 refused: result already reported as success

This is an XP/6.10.58 box

seems like a related problem, as if there was no data going out from the servers (or it is fubar to boinc). I'll keep an eye on it.

Another Win (2k3)-Box blurped today, with boinc being completely unable to communicate (science applications running fine though), I'll take a look at this later.

Linux-Boxes working like a charm.
