I have an HP DV9500T with a 256 MB NVIDIA GPU. BOINC version 6.6.38 found and used it without issue.
Version 6.10.58 does not see this processor: 3/1/2011 11:56:34 PM Running under account boinc_master 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz [Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 10] 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Processor: 4.00 MB cache 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 nx lm vmx tm2 pbe 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x86 Edition, Service Pack 2, (06.00.6002.00) 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.23 GB virtual 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Disk: 103.45 GB total, 35.50 GB free 3/1/2011 11:56:35 PM Local time is UTC -5 hours 3/1/2011 11:56:37 PM No usable GPUs found 3/1/2011 11:56:37 PM SETI@home Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 3/1/2011 11:56:37 PM SETI@home Missing coprocessor for task 18dc09ae.18407.208264.14.10.93_1 3/1/2011 11:56:37 PM SETI@home Missing coprocessor for task 18dc09ae.17161.208673.13.10.77_0 I have tried 'adjusting' my profile settings to no avail. Reinstalling 6.6.38 does find/use the GPU. Any suggestions? Also, I have been unable to obtain any work units lately (about a week). I am signed up for > 10 BOINC projects. Thx! for any help. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------From your message log it looks like you best bring this up on the Seti forums. GPU recognition is at this time not critical to running the WCG sciences on CPU, not even showing the science graphics which you can test by selecting a running WCG task in the BOINC Manager Tasks tab and hitting the Show Graphics button on the left. Good luck. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 2, 2011 7:12:05 AM] |

...3/1/2011 11:56:34 PM Running under account boinc_master ... Any suggestions? Thx! for any help. You installed that version as a service. Re-installing it again, but then not Advanced, should solve your problem. |

Thanks for that, CP. Continues to be a Windows limitation. Will add a comment in the FAQ's, installer section, for the dual crunchers.

that driver is not "supported" for HP laptops.
I had tried doing that with the 260.98 driver and it did not solve the problem, also it gave me repeated 'driver failed' .events. dl'd the latest (266.58) It works and seems stable. (no video failures in the last 3 hrs. Thx all. |
