Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

I'll make a "guess" that whoever placed CEP2 into the BOINC Pentathlon has a warped sense of humor.

Who knows, which is why we're (me) trying to *pro-actively* comm to whoever of the Pentathlonees reading this highlighting the special features and gotchas, in hopes that the situation can be salvaged where it can/needs be, at least some feedback goes back. Unselling the vacuum-cleaner is easy... word spreads fast on negative experiences.

9 of 36 teams choose CEP2 as their preferred WCG-project, with the runner-up being 7 teams on GFAM and 7 teams on FAAH. Apparently 5 of the teams didn't choose any of the WCG-Projects...

As for why any of the teams choose CEP2, my guess is users what's never ran CEP2 just voted for whatever looked interesting from the project-descriptions.

... and then, when they came to the device profile for the first time with the hint hint, RTFM, default 1, how many would it escape why default one is default one and go all-out without use of that what most all have between the 2 eardrums. Sid2, tell your team mates and you'll be in the winners side.

The results of the CEP2 segment of the BOINC Pentathlon will be most interesting.

And most of them will have no idea what they're in for trying to run this project. biggrin

Let's see if the CEP2 servers fare better than those at SIMAP. . . .

. .. the hammering will begin in a little over 4 hours.

Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

Quite an increase for CEP2 today from 20 years/day to almost 35 years for yesterday. dancing

applause Re: Questions about participation drive for CEP2

The drive continues... almost 34 years on May 8: See http://bit.ly/WCGCE1 for the graph. Wonder if knreed can extract stats on how many having a client of 7.0.40 and up, and use app_config.xml to optimize [if all-out is too much]. The client is thought to tell the servers as of about 7.0.5x if a app_config.xml is present in addition to any stray app_info.xml (to be deprecated / disabled at WCG).

edit: expand last sentence, and thanks to knreed below for providing the info insight.
