v.v. the announcement:
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,30546 and the addition of the "Social Networking" side bar entry on My Grid, till now it produces a Error * The application is unavailable at this time, please try again later. Your action has resulted in an error. If this going live is dependent on the building of the badge achievement date table building, then ignore this post. Had expected it would jump me to either the WCG facebook page or my own FB page which has a link to the WCG FB application... did I miss to do something from my end to get the SN functionality going? cheers edit: Marked [Resolved] AFA removing the second FB account link mentioned in knreed's reply.

Interesting. The error is due to you mapping your World Community Grid account to multiple Facebook accounts. There are 18 people who have done this. We anticipated linking to only occur between one WCG account and one FB account but apparently our logic did not enforce this.
You will be able to immediately get access if you go into facebook and unlink one of your two accounts. I will be looking at how we can handle this. We will likely make this impossible to set up in the future. If so, then we will remove the facebook link that was least recently used. |

As most of these social networks, joining is easy, found the second account after some pondering, but they/you have thoroughly hidden how to detach from an application... not even a search brings up a meaningful topic.
----------------------------------------On the WCG application setting page, the only thing offered is... to connect the accounts Social Networks Link World Community Grid to your Facebook and Twitter accounts to automatically show your friends what you're doing to help solve the challenges facing our world. spread the work - and let's get everyone involved to start solving worldwide challenges. Allow World Community Grid to connect to your Facebook account. edit: of course, where else, not at smuckenburg's but at Google one finds the indexed answers, hidden at Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=964 How do I remove or delete an application from my account? You can remove an application you have allowed from the Applications Y... You can remove an application you have allowed from the Applications You Use page. To get to that page, follow these steps: 1. Go to the Privacy Settings page from the "Account" drop-down menu located at the top of any page on Facebook. 2. Click the "Edit your settings" link under the Applications and Websites section towards the bottom of the page. 3. Click on the application you'd like to remove. If you don’t see the application listed, you can find it by clicking the Edit Settings button towards the top right-hand side of the page. 4. You’ll then see an expanded view of your settings for that application. From here, you can click the "Remove application" link. Once you confirm you’d like to remove the application, it will no longer have access to your data and be removed from your profile, bookmarks, and your Applications and Games Dashboards. The Remove Application link is actually the X at the far right of the application.

We have three states for connecting WCG and Facebook:
* Not Connected * You can view your stats on Facebook * You can view your stats on Facebook and have messages posted to your wall That 2nd state of stats only is the one that is not very visible. I do partially wonder if we should eliminate it completely because it is confusing and it really doesn't provide much functionality. |

OK, so edited the previous post, found answer how to remove in Google would you believe and then the SN link on My Grid works... which brings up the same page at WCG as the connect page also shown on the WCG Facebook page.
