A small question. DDDT2 is an intermittent project. Is this a definitive fact due to the project inherent fundamental way of functioning, or is it foreseen in the future to switch to a more continous flow type of project like HCC, FAAH etc.

Hi Hypernova, although I'm no authority figure on this, I'd guess it'd be forever intermittent - basically, due to it's 'inherent fundamental way of functioning' (i.e., the manual steps that are required).
----------------------------------------I'm hoping though, at some point, that it won't be as intermittent as it has been... Time though, will tell |

However, given that DDDT2 is now <5% of completion and assuming nothing changes and it goes on at current speed, the project will reach completion in Spring 2026. Does't seem really likely.

IIRC the idea was to start intermittent, before scaling up throughput. With the problems that keep cropping up this isn't going to happen anytime soon.

it will probably be intermittent forever, however there will probably be periods with somewhat steady supply of WU. less then 6 months ago we had WUs available for quite a while. Enough for many people to get sapphire (including myself).

With 22 million tasks to do, if run full original objective, and 80,000 tasks daily on steady stream we'd be looking at a minimum of 275 days of crunching if it were to kick off today.
----------------------------------------As this research stretches, I could get concerned over funding... Dr. Watowich and some of the associates may be tenured, but eventually grand money would run out for this research, and focus be lost. But that's a worst case scenario. --//-- PS, now we also know where the 5% (est.) progress comes from ;>)
