What are the odds?

He definately seems to enjoy wandering around giving teams a boost when they need it. He has given us a huge amount of boost with his visits to us.

Thank you Hypernova!! applause

Pramo, did you see the link for correcting the sig? Change the first part of the sig to wcgsig.com.

Much happiness here!

Welcome back Hypernova!! hugs

Your timing is impeccable, we were 4 days or so from being overrun by the Marines.

Looks like the engines are putting out plenty of thrust at the moment. We will enable the satellite uplinks for your convenience.

With your timely assistance we might even break the 100th position. biggrin

Re: flagU.S. Air Force Team-Come fly with usflag

The only risk is overheating, which will oblige me to reduce power. Higher external temperatures are announced for the coming week.

As you know for full thrust I need high altitude temps like -50 laughing

Cross fingers wink

Re: flagU.S. Air Force Team-Come fly with usflag

It would be great to find some way to "cheaply" cool our processor coolant to -50. I suppose I could speed things up beyond the 4.6GHz for all 4 cores / 8 threads. I have been able to go to 4.9GHz on this 2600K on days when I can get the house real cool but now it's warming up for us and I have to keep her clocked down to avoid the blue screen of death. skull

I have been slowly buying pieces here and there for a LGA 2011 build that I could put a couple of 7970's into but so far all I have is a case and a water cooler. Nothing going to happen fast but it will happen sooner or later.

I was looking at a Rampage IV MB and 4 GPU's but saw your info on bottlenecking the CPU with too many GPU's on the International Team Thread. That has caused a re-think on that plan.

Since this build is going to take a while your idea to wait for the next generation AMD GPU might be a factor. The next generation of CPU's will probably be out also so who knows.

I have always run Intel but I am seeing lots about AMD lately so some research will be in order when the time comes.

As far as my current set up goes I have 1 5870, 1 5850 XFX Black and 1 saphire 5850 running in my rig. The 2600K seems to keep up with the GPU's so far. Of course since they are all crossfired they all clock to the Saphire 5850. I tend to be a few generations behind to keep the system within the finances.

Any suggestions for a GPU upgrade in the $150 range each that might be an improvement on the 58XX's?

Hope your weather stays cool and your flight path remains clear.

A 7770 will do 2x what a 5870 will do on way less power. They can be found in the $100-$125 range. Look for sales on 7850s. They can be found in the $150 range.

Thanks nanoprobe.
A 7770 doing double with less power sounds good. What is the comparison as far as work for the 7850?

My best guess would be the 7850 will do 3-4x what a 5870 will do and still use less power. Maybe someone with a 7850 can chime in.

@Hypernova. E-mail me if you would please.
