I "accidently" deleted my Home Device Profile. How do I recreate it, or add addiitonal profiles.

Vaguely remember that if you delete a profile it takes a while to reappear again in the section above the Profile Names (sign out, sign in might hasten this).
----------------------------------------If you don't have the patience, copy the below link (right click and select copy-link from menu) then empty the address bar completely and then paste this in the address and enter. It will open the home profile again which then can be saved, but wont guarantee. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...onfiguration.do?name=home If this fixes the issue, plz edit the OP and insert [RESOLVED] in the title. --//--

I have another question about the Profiles. Whenever I do a clear, to set the profile, the option "Use GPU while computer is in use" gets turned off. Is there something I need to set in the profile, so it sets this option on? ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by mclaver at Nov 24, 2010 5:33:00 PM] |

Where did you last modify the website device profile for whichever is associated to your client where you see this? WCG does not have the option yet, so logically, if WCG's web profile was last changed, that will pass to you client and thus the field will not be populated and assume the client default, which is to not tick the box. If you make a change at a web profile at one of your other projects and tick the field there, then that will be passed to your client, until you make a local pref change at which time all updating on the website will be ignored.
----------------------------------------The message log tells which project and what profile is used: For instance: 3418 WCG 24-11-2010 19:13 General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 24-Nov-2010 19:13:31) 3419 WCG 24-11-2010 19:13 Computer location: work So, as in most of the cases, it's not the butler who did it ;>) --//-- edit: So the learned point is: GPU crunchers should maintain the operational prefs at a GPU work providing project. The WCG profiles then only are to be used to control the sub-science selections. If those are changed, the Device Profile change flag is not triggered and no update is send to the client. The client is unaware of sub-project concepts so there's no need to do profile transmission. ![]()

I would rather my profiles, as set in WCG control my options, insetead of manually overriding it on each computer. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
