Different upload servers

Hi,

has WCG for CEP2 different up/dl sites for linux and windows apps? To/from my linux host was downloading, now only uploading big files so fast (up to 4mb/s) and on windows it is only max 250kb/s. I have these 2 systems on the same network. It is not horrible issue, but I can't understand it smile

thanks

Re: Different upload servers

Hi dango, certainly just before the Windows app was launched, one of the Beta runs was to test that a new server at Harvard could cope with the expected increase in dl/ul bandwidth. As to whether the Linux server was switched over or kept feeding that particular platform's needs, I don't know - it may have been switched, although I've never read of such a comment being made on these forums. On a personal basis, I'd have thought that, if the system allows it, then it'd make sense to keep both the old and new servers running - the old, serving Linux whilst the new serving Windows/Mac.

Obviously, only the WCG techs/Harvard bods can confirm this.

I have both Linux and windows systems and the Linux boxes are faster on their upload/download speeds. I do not know by how much. Three of the boxes are identical 3,4 gz P4's with two on Windows and one on Linux. If I get time I will do a comparison.

Cheers
