HI,
why is there no indicator, of how many WUs are available for any given project? WCG seems to be quite different to other boinc projects. If there is a server status page, please let me know, where to find it. regards Rasputin 42 |

Hi Rasputin42,
----------------------------------------Firstly, welcome to the forum's ![]() With regards to your query, the simple answer is no - basically because no one knows exactly. Yes, the scientists themselves will have a very good idea, but as to how many WU's that will actually result in (the WCG techs try to create an average WU length of around 7 hrs), no one really knows. Also, a lot depends on how many resends there are etc. Another curve-ball, is that projects can (and quite often do), have extra tests added - e.g., HPF2/HFCC/FA@H to name just 3. What I'd recommend, is to have a look at some statistics Sekerob has pulled together so as to give a very rough ESTIMATE of each project's progress. These are based on the number of WU's crunched and the likely number/date each project is currently targeted to end. Obviously, these dates ARE an ESTIMATE, and things CAN and DO change (for instance, if a new project comes on board, that'll have a knock-on effect). The statistics can be found in the FAQ's, Sekerob's signature, and for your convenience, here -> WCG Supplemental Performance Charts - 1 .
