Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

The CEP team is making some nice progress on the data calibration and database these days. We also got a batch of new rotation students who have the chance of getting their hands dirty in the project. Have fun guys ;).

We know for a fact that there are a number of German crunchers on the project – so this one is for them (and everyone else who wants to brush up on their language skills): A really neat article about the idea and perspective of plastic solar cells titled ‘Powerplant in the backpack’.

Ja, etwas für mich! Oh, I wanted to say "something for me!" biggrin

The one missing thing in the article is the hint to WCG and CEP2... wink

We put our name into the CycleCloud BigScience Challenge 2011 competition for some additional cluster time. Let’s see what will come out of this.

Quite the interesting opportunity...makes me wish I'd gotten around to completing my software for incorporating known and projected environmental factors into probabilistic computations involving semi-random selections by mechanical methods from a *predefined set of numbers.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

The old wingman system with its redundancy and waste is finally fading out and we’ll double our crunching efficiency. Yay! Very exciting. A big ‘Thank you!’ to our friends from the IBM-WCG team. You guys are the best!

Good news, thanks. I will shortly resume (around 10 November) CEP2 processing. At present I am focusing on DSFL, C4CW, HFCC, HCC and HPF2.

John

I'm back until 14 November. However, all my systems will be offline from 14 until 25 November as I will be in the Middle East.

We had a great meeting with Brendan from the Harvard Research Computing team yesterday about database setups and hosting. Very helpful – thanks Brendan!
