Any news on Flu Phase 2?
----------------------------------------I believe I remember it was going to use the same general framework as DDDT2. Does that mean that any new workunits are months away? I noticed we just passed the one year mark on completion of Phase I, and we're about to head into another flu season. |

At a guess (and considering that it's being run by the same scientists that are running DDDT2), it'll be quite some time away yet.

Hi gb009761,
Right! The project scientists have recently completed the validation study for CHARMM and now need to work on getting DDDT2 running as smoothly as possible. I am sure that they are looking forward to relaxing during the Thanksgiving holidays and Christmas season. The WCG staff will be on vacation. So sometime in 2011 the project scientists will decide that DDDT2 is running smoothly enough that all they have to do is replicate the system for Influenza. Of course, the validation steps will be labor-intensive. But they will decide the schedule based on their perceived situation. For our part, we will try to accommodate them and not introduce delays. Any chance there will be more phase one WU's? Guess not, since this is under 'Completed Research'. |

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the possibility of extra Phase 1 WU's - as, after all, the scientists behind this (who are the same ones behind DDDT1/2), have all phase 2 to work through before it's finally done and dusted.
----------------------------------------Also, if I remember correctly, originally, Phase 1 was going to be far bigger than it turned out to be - so, they may decide to have some other 'promissing leads' crunched... [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Nov 27, 2010 8:40:25 PM] |

Hello Blurf,
The last news was from Usha Viswanathan on 22 Aug 2011, shortly after she took over from rdmalmst. You can get all the news if you use search on watowich or rdmalmst or Usha Viswanathan. I expect that we will just have to wait. At least the title 'Influenza Antiviral Drug Search and Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together Scientist' that Usha Viswanathan uses is encouraging. Lawrence |

Lawrence Thanks Lawrence. For selfish reasons, I hope they resume phase 1 as I just got started on this project when it was paused. I am chomping at the bit to resume it. If not, I will jump on Flu2 ... too. |
