First of all there are some dozen items in Help providing explanation which is summarized in this brief line:
----------------------------------------The calculation of Points is the method World Community Grid uses to measure your contribution to individual researches running on World Community Grid. Points are one method for competitive comparison on the stats pages. These points can be converted to give a more real world idea of what they are:
7,000 points equal 10 GigaFLOPS 70,000 points equal 100 GigaFLOPS 700,000 points equal 1 TeraFLOPS (1,000 GigaFLOPS) FLOPS stands for FLoating-Point OPerations Per Second) If latter value of 1 TeraFLOPS (in short "TFL") is taken against the Run Time statistics of for instance 100 days cumulative as showing on the My Grid page, you can derive to be contributing 10 GigaFLOPS average per day to volunteer computing. If you look in the BOINC client you will see that the points contribution does not match that what is seen under the client's Advanced View > Project tab and Statistics tab. Basically, WCG has always had a system from before the BOINC client adoption where points are the equivalent of BOINC credits to the ratio of 7 : 1, so when seeing 700,000 points on the My Grid page and credit [also known as Cobblestones] of 100,000 are showing in the client, it's this multiplier. More on that is explained in these Help. Related topics: The points shown on the web site don't match the points in the agent.
