shock Re: File System Error Update thread

Magically, the midday stats did run:

Statistics Last Updated: 14-10-10 12:06:03 (UTC) [1 hour(s) ago]

It must have been the fastest statistics ever run. The history shows a total contribution of

00:00:00:00

Re: File System Error Update thread

Sekerob, I did wonder myself as to whether they'd even bother to run the stats or not... I suppose though, that they've got enough on their hands to be stopping them from running - and, after all, it's a test that they'll not have run for quite some time (i.e., if the result HADN'T have come back with zero, then why...)

Re: File System Error Update thread

The databases are up and running fine so we saw no reason to go in and change the crontab settings.

Re: File System Error Update thread

Well, now I've got another problem I restarted the quad with Ubuntu on it and now it is pulling a "windows" on me. It is stuck on ubuntu screen with the slow flashing dots underneath. I am afraid to do a hard reset though because it is also furiously accessing the hard disk. What is going on? Guesses?

Re: File System Error Update thread

Kevin,

With the piles of files to upload, suppose the downloads come back on before uploads can complete, will the client block downloading until uploadable files have gone below the cores x 2 threshold?

To clarify, having 16 completed tasks to upload with 41 result files in the transfer window on the quad, is this multiplier applying to the Results number as listed in the Tasks view or the result files number i.e. 2 CEP2 results have 10 files to upload in the transfer view.

thanks.

Re: File System Error Update thread

Not sure enough to argue with twice precise, and I had an outage from yesterday evening and several restarts; big queue to clear this morning. Perhpas a few upoaded tasks were just reported.

I take it that Statistics won't be updated until this is resolved?

Re: File System Error Update thread

@Sekerob

I believe that you are correct about uploads needing to complete before work fetch resumes.

However, we hope to be able to turn uploads back on within an hour (that copy process is about 80% complete) while we won't be able to resume sending work for awhile longer yet. This will also give clients a chance to get their results uploaded.

@skgiven
Stats generated from BOINC are not running at this time. The website data is being updated (although since nothing is being returned, there is nothing to update)

Re: File System Error Update thread

Probably different here but at GPUGrid you can download tasks before uploads finish. It asks for new tasks because existing tasks are complete. You might need to start uploading, or not, but they do not finish uploading before you can start downloading.

The last WCG task I downloaded was at 20:18 UK time last night, so the stats from then would be the same as today, and there would be no point re-running them before the majority of systems uploaded results.

I thought CEP2 tasks would still upload to Harvard?
