Good morning everybody,
----------------------------------------I would like to know why a WU of HPF2 re-starts, after a computer switch off, from a lower time count. For Example, the computation starts, and I let it work for 1 hour. Then, I switch the computer off. When I switch the computer on the day after, the computation of this WU re-starts at 30 minutes, and not at 1 hour... Do someone know what happens ? What is the reason why it needs to re-start from a lower time level ? Because the computation is supposed to be completed 16/10/2010 at 11 AM. And if the situation carries on, I will be late ! Hi Jean-Philippe,
----------------------------------------The problem is that many of the computational models are too big to constantly save to disc. The application is then set to do that at so called "checkpoints" when a simulation loop is complete (there are quite a few to many in a task depending on the science app). Depending on speed of the computer, those loops can take for HPF2 some 5 minutes, but also more than 30 minutes. You can decide on when to switch off your computer by monitoring this checkpointing and wait a little till one is written to disc.
